Leo Jacobs, was one of the large factors which made the School Opera such a great success. ln our Music Club there are over one hundred members and most of the leaders of our school belong to this group, and that is the reason that it plays such an important part in our Millard High. This Boys' Glee has often sent its melodies out over the the assembly hall to entertain the school and public, Anyone with musical talent can't help but enjoy the selections given by them. -44-K W, W K g -W, AW-X, fu x iY w,f,mM,m5..' , , .-t, .., .- W H. 1.5, 4--4 ,ah .- i' --'wt ,.-L- w W -L 2'-a-S U 1 Qt -' ' ',-- ' .NA -vwgfvwg W, 1 ' ?'i 'fl K 'K l N QA l i il s QS fi Q r l .Q l , 1 . fl - a if Glrl s Glee Club ll lil its One of the outstanding clubs of the school this year is the Girl's Glee Club. The total enrollment of the class this year is one hundred and seventy-five. This large enrollment shows that the students of the Millard County High School are interested in religious training and the work thereof. There will be twenty- seven graduates this year. The Seminary and the training it offers is a beacon light which leads the perplexed students through the maze of superstition and unbelief along the pathway of faith to a haven of joyous serenity. -50- - 'A ' .4 Art Department At the close of this year the art department under the expert direction of Mr. llotfman will be prepared to exhibit one of the finest displays in the history of Millard County lligh School. More students are now enrolled for this class than ever before. We have an enrollment of sixty-three. including both boys and girls. You have no doubt heard the statement that our modern girls are not interested in home life. No man or group of men could harbor this fear for long if they once saw the Llfllllly home furnishings. The girls have made gorgeous pillows, scarfs, towels, beautiful hand-painted china dishes, leather work and basketryg and, by the way, you will be pleased to learn that this includes lunch baskets of every size and shape, fruit and flower baskets. etc. Besides these classes Mr. lloffman instructs a large class in wood-work and iron-work. The boys have made cedar chests, chairs, tables. magazine racks, and other very artistic and useful things to help furnish the home. -51- Chemistry With students eager to begin the study of the science and phenomena of the elements and compounds, the problems were attacked with all the zeal and curiosity that Edison or Steinmetz themselves might have shown. Wrapped in the seclu- sion of the laboratory many elements were studied one by one, and while doing so, little or no attention was paid to the events of the outside world except to occasionally let escape the peculiar gases and odors that were vigorous reminders of the fact that we were up and at 'em. Lab days proved to be very interesting as well as dangerous, for we never knew when or from where the next explosion was coming. And no one in par- ticular is to blame for the fact that we are not now sailing forth into space in the form of atoms. Truly, much has been demonstrated and learned between the crashes of tinkling glass and the friendly gas attacks of fellow students. Yea, many flames were lighted each day, only to flicker and die at 3:00 P. M. Many the principles that have been totally digested and the strength thereof, made ours, truly the course hath in it much merit. -52- M f u iv ,ff za f V.:-'H '-1 :nr, 'i-me'4- H. ,. tw..-...f x vw-17-aff-v X' ir., f.- , . We are exceptionally proud of them because of the fine work which they did as well as the good sportsmanship displayed at the games. So full of pep and vim was our team that we won the Division Championship. Though our team did not get the State Championship. this year, they showed their opponents some very hard fighting and made a splended showing. Mr. jacobs with his usual integrity put on an opera this year which beat all previous records by a long shot. Though not large, they make up for this in peppiness. At all our big basketball games, selections were given by the band which kept the pep for the dead students up even though they were losing the game. There are several beginners in the band this year, and fllr, Stott has carefully led them through the mire. The band this year is, according to the talk of the townsmen , one of the best since Nlr. Stott cease,l instructing in the Music Depart- ment several years ago. We wish to extend our thanks to Mr. Stott for giving us such an accomplished band. Ol - Orchestra Through the untiring efforts of Mr. jacobs, an orchestra was made this year which outstripped any other in the past years. The orchestra is steadily growing, thus proving that big oak trees come from little acorns after all. They have given us a few numbers in assembly, and played for us in this year's Operetta, thus proving their superior merit. bln jacobs cannot be coniplhnented highly enough for the part he has played in this year's school life. The production of our fine orchestra is just one of the musical activities in which Mr. Jacobs is engaged. .52- I SJQQ Y '-2-N531 A x Q W 4 ' D' q' Q K .Lx Q-. ,W 'SL liz!
