“CLASS HISTORY OF 1°59 In September, 19 +7, as in many another year at Mill Creek School, a group of thirty-two mischievious little children enrolled as first graders, very anxious to berin twelve long years of what we thought then would be fun. But as we grew in our future years, we have found it was also hard work. Mrs. Thelma Wolfe taught us our A.B.C.'s and a few numbers that first year of school. Mrs. Zimmerman had to put up with us during our second year still with thirty-two mischievious children. We learned more about numbers and writing. During the third grade, we enrolled only 23, guided by Mrs. Florence Wilson. In the fourth grade, we started division and multiplication under the watchful eye of Mrs. Frances Gustafson. In the fifth grade we learned the +8 states, put out a class paper, The Fifth Grade Journal , and entertained the fourth grade with a talent show. Mr. Frank Farnsley was our teacher. Mr. Barton was our sixth grade teacher and this was the year our boys became interested in basketball. We sold seeds and made a profit of $27. Our enrollment was again around 30. In 1953-5 + we were transferred into the high school side for the sev- enth grade. This seemed so different, almost like a different world. Go- ing from class to class was a new experience and we considered ourselves quite grown uo. Our sponsor was Mr. Fred Neuliep. Our eighth grade was similar to the seventh grade exceot for a few experiments in science class. Our sponsor was Mr. Roy Sorbet. In our freshmen year the important activities of our life really be- gan. On October +, 1956, we were the last class to be initiated into Mill Creek High School. Our class officers were: President Wendy Tarnow. Vice President Norm Hostetler, Secretary Kathy Holmquest, Treasurer Tom Sharp. Mary Blalock was elected as one of the cheerleaders. Wendy Tarnow won a trophy in the free throw tourney. Miss Conrad was our sponsor. During our Sophomore year we gave two one-act plays. Our officers were: President, Don Noel, Vice President Norm Hostetler, Secretary Ginnie Carlson, Treasurer Tom Sharp. Norm Hostetler won the free throw tourney. Dave Perry was the ping pong chamnion. The Sophomore boys won trophies for winning the Volley Ball Tourney. Mr. Roy Sorbet was our sponsor. The Junior Class Play, The Defiance of David Charles turned out to be a fine success, with a Drofit of $100. The most exciting event of the year, which was also a lot of work, was the Junior Prom. The Junior Dance was held in the Snring with a profit of $60. The magazine campaign netted us $250. And finally our long-awaited class rings I The Class officers were President Dave Perry, Vice President Wendy Tarnow, Secretary Mary Bla- lock, Treasurer Tom Sharp. Miss Dorton was our sponsor. Seniors we are at lastj It has been a long hard struggle but in 1959 twenty seniors will be walking up the graduation aisle. This has been an exciting year, with the yearbook, one of the biggest undertakings. Mr. Michael is the yearbook sponsor. Mr. Riley is class sponsor. Class off- icers are President Norm Hostetler, Vice President Wendy Tarnow, Secretary Kathy Holmquest, Treasurer Tom Sharp.
