Senior History In September, 19U2, as in any other year at mill Creek School, a group of mischievous little children enrolled as first graders, anxi- ous to begin on what seemed to be an endless, twelve-year career. At that time, they were just another class, but now, in the year of 19514» they are Mill Creek’s Honorable Seniors I At the end of the first year of schooling there were approximate- ly thirty members of the class, seven of which are now seniors at W.C. H.S. These seven were, Mary Baugh, ilma Lindsley, biva Cochrai., Vic- tor oms, Dale Jones, Hoy Wolff, and Buzz Worthington. During the next years, other members came and went and in our graduating class there are thirteen members. Besides the seven already mentioned there are: Mary eeden, Donna Harrison, Gayle Replogle, Jim Devereaux, Bin Rockwell, and Charles Daniel. In our freshman year the important activities of our life really began. September 21, 1950, we were initiated Into high school. On December 20, all members of the class took part in The Doctor of Lonesome Folk ; a Christmas Pantomime, which turned out to be a great success. Our class officers that year were: President, Jim Devereaux; Vice President, Dale Jones; Secretary, Gayle Replogle; and Treasurer, Mary Baugh. We entered our sophomore year by sponsoring a skating party on October 13, Near the end of the year, we had a class party at Michi- gan city park. Class officers that year were; Pres., Dale Jones; Vice Pres., Gayle Replogle; Sec., Mary Baugh; Treasurer, iva Cochran. Our junior year was even busier than either the freshman or the sophomore years. We had charge of the concession stand, as juniors do each year. On September 22, we sponsored another skating party. Oct- ober 16th to November 10th found us selling magazine subscriptions. The object of getting all this money was for a junior-senior trip which we hoped to take in the spring. At the first of the year, we ordered our class rings, and on November 19th, our order arrived. On the seventh of January the juniors and seniors, along with the history teacher, took an interesting field trip to LaPorte to visit the Slicer Corporation and Allis Chalmers. On the evening of January seventeenth eight members of the class had a little party in South Bend. First we went to a movie and then to eat at the Philadelphia . Some time dur- ing the month of February, the juniors and seniors took another field trip; this time to B0uth Bend to the Tribune Building and then to Mish- awaka to the sewage disposal plant. On March third, the same two classes toured by bus to Indianaoolis to visit the state capital and many otner points of interest. Karen twentieth the juniors sponsored a dance, and on March twenty-seventh a play entitled If Mother Only Knew . Nearly all the class took part in this play. Later that year. May eighth and ninth, we chartered a bus and journeyed to the great city of Chicago. (Of course we took the seniors along, for this was the big occasion we had been planning and saving for.) Limited space on this page prevents a detailed description of the trip, but we can assure you that it was a wonderful trip. The class officers that year were the same as the sophomore year. AND NOW WE ARE SENIORS! !I! We began with a bang! On September 18th, we initiated the green freshies . On September 23, Camps Photo- graphers came to take our pictures. They came again on October 28, to take more pictures. On October 17th the seniors sponsored a dance to finance the year-book, and later, on November 13th, a turkey raffle for the same purpose. Our Picture orders arrived on December l th, just in time for Christmas. Nine members of the class took an inter- esting trip to Washington D. C. as guests of the LaPorte Herald-Argus. Senior class officers are: Pres Dale; V.pres.,Gayle; Sec.,Elva,and Treas., Mary Baugh. All in all, we nave had a pretty wonderful time at Mill Creek, but we must admit, we’re anxious to get out and see what this cruel old world is really like!!!
