Team Gains Valuable Experience ThroughouT The Season 82 VarsiTy FooTbalI Q? E Trojans Shine ln The SpoTlighT fTer all The long, hoT, sweaTy, sum- mer pracTices, iT looked like The hard work finally paid off for The mighTy Trojan VarsiTy fooTball Team. The Trojans made a remarkable co- meback over The year before and had The self confidence To succeed. Many people Thoughf iT would be anoTher long season wiTh only abouT ThirTy members on The Team. BuT The Trojans proved True The popular auoTe: T'Big Things come in liTTle packages. AfTer winning Their firsT Two games againsT Kalani and Waipahu, Coach Sanford Kawana proclaimed, I knew we could do iT. I felT confidenT in The Team and our abiIiTy To overcome ad- versiTy. And overcome They did. By The middle of The season, and afTer Two games in a row aT Aloha STadium, The Team had a record of 2-3. The feelings of pride and accomplishmen' rode high during The season, and Tean capTains Frank Dunsfon and Alex Gasmen provided The leadership Tha' promoTed These feelings. Coach Kawana broughT back The Team spirif and winning drive in only hi: second year as head coach. Th Team ended The season wiTh a fin record of Two wins and six losses, a improvemenT over Their one win las' year. And, alThough The record can reflecT iT, many of The games were very close and ofTen decided by les Than one Touchdown.
