0rganizaTions Shine WiTh Pride ililani High School was filled wiTh many differenT orga- nizaTions. Some of These were The Gopher Club, The FHA Hero Club, The PAAC Club, and Sigma Kappa loTa. No, The Gopher Club is noT abouT Those furry, liTTIe animals ThaT dig holes in gardens. lT's a club ThaT assisTs The Cross CounTry and Track coaches wiTh The sTaT- 6 isTics of The Mililani Track meeTs. Mr. Edward Sawdda, The Cross CounTry coach, organized The club many years ago and called The sTudenTs who helped him, Go- phers. Because mosT of The mem- bers had been Gophers since Their Freshman year, everyone was like family. lncidenTly, The Gophers had exTreme fun aT The meeTs! Did you ever wonder whaT The FHA Hero Club was? Well, This was a fairly new club aT our school. FHA sTands for FuTure Homemak- ers of America. In This club, you mef oTher people by geTTing in- volved wiTh helping The school and The communiTy. They also gained experience wiTh home- making skills and had fun while doing so. When asked why she joined The club, Shawn Nagal re- plied, So I could learn abouT ho- memaking ThaT will help me in laTer years, meeT new people and make new friends . Cindy Cousins replied, I joined be- cause I wanTed To geT involved To help our school . AnoTher club aT our school was The Pacific and Asian Affairs Council Club. The purpose of PAAC was To have The opporTuni- Ty To undersTand how global de- cisions affecT us and To under- sTand oTher people by having The opporTuniTy To parTicipaTe wiTh oTher sTudenTs from all over our Island STaTe in conferences and workshops. This was The Third year Mililani PAAC parTicipaTed in The Model Unifed Nafions. lvleefing people, sharing ideas, and learn- ing more abouT The world we live in was whaT PAAC was all abouT. A new club ThaT was charfered jusT This year was Sigma Kappa loTa. IT was creaTed because some members of The AP Chemis- Try class felf ThaT They needed an honor science club on campus. IT was a special year for This club because all members were Sen- iors. Their main purpose was To furTher Their inTeresT in ChemisTry and promofe enjoymenT in AP ChemisTry. Copy by Tina Hirao
