T ue Love s Special The elevator ride up to the ballroom of the Prince Kuhio Hotel was tense as murmurs and hints of laughter played upon the occupants. Nervous anticipation could be seen on everyone's faces. After presenting their tickets at the door, the couples gazed through the lavish hall and searched for their table. Light conver- sation set in as they awaited the arrival of the rest of the couples. It was December 21, Winterball night - a time for dining, dancing, and just having a good time. Lacking the formality and rigidness of proms, everyone had the opportunity to display their own particular styles and modes of dress. Senior Matt Anbe said, I had a hard time finding the right clothes! After checking out each other's 'Sragsf' everyone pro- ceeded to a separate room to take pictures by the popular Nateis Photography. A dinner buffet, which included shoyu chicken, fish, salad and assorted desserts, gratified many people, including Jojo Dona, a Senior: The food was good! he exclaimed. Eating dinner was a task for many people since their manners were supposed to be at their finest. Crowded was the best definition of the dance floor, but the fun and excitement more than made up for it. Many left the hotel to seek further enjoyment. Senior Marci Lau said she was looking forward to having fun afterward. Her sentiments were shared by others. Many went to see the perenial favorite: the Frank DeLima Show. Some played scavenger hunts, went to hotel parties, or just took a stroll on the beach. The couples shared many moments that night, memories frozen for years to come. 66 Blast From The Pa t The campus seemed to be more alive than usual as busy students dashed around the school filled with anticipation of the days ahead - not a gloomy face could be found even among the most stressed-out Trojans. The events and activities in the days to follow promised to bring out the school spirits from our hearts. It was Monday and every- day got ready to share in a Blast From The Past. It was Homecoming! During the previous weeks, all of the classes were engaged in float-building. The friendly competition between the classes kept everyone sharp while also helping to promote pride in our school and our peers. Junior Eric Tamashiro confessed, It was fun, but tiring, too. The Seniors proudly displayed their One Step For Trojan- kind float, which depicted the first man on the moon, American hero Neil Armstrong. The hardships melted away in the light of victory as the Class of 1988 were announced as the winners. The highlight of the week was the Homecoming game, during which they announced the results of the float-building contest, and the dance the night after. The week was a lot of fun but it would have been better if we won the game fagainst Waialuajf' said John Wataoka, a Junior. Those precious memories will never fade and served to provide each of us with our own special times In The Spotlight. 1 Copy by Judy Chen and Keith Kamisugi 211 Muni-Magazine
