GLM Pwpkwy - cm 'Z Karen Roeder is now playing piano with Spike Jones. Karen, you know, started out in High School working in the school's orchestra and most of us thought something would come of it--and as a sideline Karen gives flute lessons to the children of all the movie stars. Phyllis Garrelts is in Denver, Colorado. Phil is taking things easy right now, as we all know, she is a famous playwright. She has just finished her play and it made Broadway right away. I always knew she had a secfet ambition. Didn't you? Admiral and Mrs. Carl Smith are now stationed in Hawaii. They have been on a tour of the South Pacific. Berni is kept busy by trying to make little ladies out of her two girlsg it seems they insist on building sailboats. At the time she is eagerly engaged in teaching them the Hula, I found that my former classmate, Dewaine Van Hoveln is in New York City and to my surprise he is a psychiatrist. He has a large office and quite a stall. It seems that most of his patients are women. fGood old Dewainej. And to think he never liked Psychologyg something must have changed his mind--I wonder what? Mrs. Glenn Scheive, the former Marian Lauterbach, is teaching English at the University of Illinois. When I last heard from her she was kept very busy devoting her spare time to her husband and her three girls Qtripletsj. She also uses her shorthand ability in making out her grocery list. I was not surprised when I received a letter from Joanne Lauterpach Sloan telling me that she and Elmer will be glad to attend the Banquet if they can persuade Grandma Lauterbach to take care of Gretchen and El- mer Jr. The trip to Illinois will be quite an experience for the child- ren. It will also be an enjoyment for the Mr. and Mrs. because they haven't been back to the progressive city of Milford in ten years. Marge Doud has set up residence in Onarga. She has an interesting business right across from the Military School. She has made herself quite a name as the best twirling instructor in this county. Her favor- ite students are the Cadets from across the street. To our astonishment Freddy Focken has become a doctor. While tak- ing his medical training he invented a miracle drug and he is now 6'3!'. Quite a change from the 5'5 boy we all knew in High School. fLet's hope he doesn't turn into a modern Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.j He is number one doctor in the clinic in Watseka. By the way, Miss Norma Luening is his receptionist. We all remember her in typing and short- hand classes. I hear that Norma has been offered a position in the Art Institute. We all remember her love for art while in school. I just received a letter from Bill Langfahl, one of our former classmates, saying that he would be able to be at our Banquet this year Last year at this time, as you know, Bill tried and convicted Joe Stalin and his associates on war crimes. It is rumored that the President will appoint Bill to the Supreme Court. Two of my old classmates have really helped in the progression in the city of Milford. Since the retirement of Mr. Hulgan, Wayne has taken over and remodeled the South Gate Station. Miss Beverly Noeren- berg has set up a seamstress shop. She is very successful in making new designs equal to those in Paris. In her leisure time she is trying to learn the filling station business. The former Gerry Roberson has taken her husband, Burdette Luecke back to Texas with her. She keeps him busy counting her millions she has made on her oil wells. It takes all her time to watch her five little cowboys and keeping their dude ranch open for business. In her letter she said, You all come down and see me sometime. This is the end of the story, except for me. I have taken over the job as the secretary of MTHS and in my leisure time I have taken up a course in cooking. Say, that reminds me, I had better start sup- per. You know short blond people are sometimes very impatient. Well, who knows what will happen to us in the next ten years!! .. 16 .-
