This year the public speaking and debating group under the faculty advisors of Mr. Kallstrom and Mr. Ross, merged for the first time in Milford's history because of the small number of members in each club and also because it was felt that such a plan would develop in the participating students a fuller, more comprehensive understanding and command of speaking and all that is allied with it. This newly instigated program has met with considerable amount of success and may be put into PUBLIC SPEAKING AND DEBATING Left to Right: Ist row-Huber, Iny, Schneider, Shiff, Reiger. 2nd row-Corda, Rottman, Naigles, Shorofsky, M. The music appreciation group has accomplished a great deal this past year. Under the excellent and competent directorship of Mr. Roche the group had a very enjoyable study on choral music, the music of Beethoven and Mozart, and a short comprehensive permanent use. Under this system the members are divided, half working in Public speaking for a term, half with debating. At the advent of the final term the two factors are switched. During the year these groups put on a number of programs which were received most favorably and special recognition should be given to Marty Goldberg and Donald Braverman of public speaking, Morris Shorofsky and Alan Nemrow of debating for being awarded special prizes in their individual groups. study of musical instruments. Many members of the group throughout the year attended concerts by the Boston Symphony, Maryla Jonas, Koussevitsky and Vladimir Horowitz at Woosley Hall in New Haven, which were very enjoyable.

The forum consisted of many helpful lectures in putting out a school newspaper delivered by prominent men in their individual fields which proved of great help in making the Milfordian a big success this year. The formation of the first stamp club in Milford's history was originated under the capable leader- ship of Lewis Cohen. The club took the interest and imagination of the student body with striking force. Inside of a few weeks the potential members elected Lewis Cohen, president, Ralph Sachs, vice president, and Nelson Leirner, treas.
