Walters, Larry jones, and Glena Babb entered high school as green Freshmen with Mrs, jones as our sponsor, The class was sailing along fine until Freshman initiation came, That day all of the class had to dress up like characters in the comics, but we survived the ordeal, During the year Richard Kanawyer and Robert Oldnettle joined our class, At the beginning of our Sophomore year Barbara Heskett joined our class and later on Shiela Blevins came, Mr, Gaddis was our class sponsor, The class participated whole-hearted- ly in all school extra curricular activities, Toward the end of the year Shiela Blevins returned to Salina, The Sophomores gave a party for the entire school and for entertainment had a scavenger hunt, The junior year was a busy one for everyone in the class, Earl Dornberger came from Wakefield to join our class, The class presented its fir st play entitled Nowhere Fast direct- ed by Ester Thacker, ln April the Juniors gave a banquet in honor of the Seniors, The theme of the banquet was Come With Me To The Mardi Gras, Our Senior year was destined to be one of the most out- standing years of our class, Our sponsor was Mr, jones, Richard Kanawyer left us and Darlene Walters became Mrs, Raymond Shivers, She completed her high school career by correspondence, This left us with only four active members during our Senior year, The most unforgettable day was graduation in May of 1955 when our class was destined to part and each of us to seek our future, 9 last Will and Testament We the Seniors 01 nineteen-hundred and fifty-five being of improved HJ and weary mind, as a result of four years of arduous search for the golden nuggets of wisdom, now in spirit of magnonimity do hereby bestow upon those who are left to mourn our loss, the following bequest: To the juniors, we will our Senior dignity, To the Sophomores, we will our ability to climb to the top, To the Freshmen, we leave our success in making good enough grades to become Seniors, To the teachers, and the principal, we leave our many thanks for their patience and teachings which will never be forgotten by the Senior class, To the school, we will all our respect and honor, The smaller individual bequest are as follows: I, Larry jones, will to Gary Shandy my ability to make the fir st team in basketball, I, Anna Johnston, will my sweet and charming personality to my little cousins Jay Christensen and jim Head for I think they will need it in future years, I, Earl Dornberger will my ability to keep my girl to Stanley Shivers so he can get one and keep her, I, Barbara Heskett will my ability to get a man and hold him to V-Ona Davies, I, Larry Jones, will to Buford Miller my study hall seat at the end of the Senior row, I, Anna Johnston, will my gum chewing ability to Phyliss Waters, not that she needs it of course, I, Earl Dornberger, will my American History book to my little sister, Shirley hoping she will make better use of it than I did, I, Barbara Heskett, will my curves to Carol Mellinger to become the third Marilyn Monroe, I, Larry Jones will to Kenneth Breen my ability to keep slim, I, Anna Johnston, leave my bench-warming abilities to Darlene Breen, jerry, and Robert so they can play with it out of clan instead of in Klgebra, 10 Class Prophecy 1955 It is the year 1965 and it has been ten long years since the class of 1955 has graduated, Many things have been added to the city of Milford due to the untiring efforts and loyalty of the Seniors, After graduation from high school and college, Larry jones became a great actor, He has taken over Tony Curtis' place in motion picture business, He is now known as The Latin Lover, Larry has really changed, I met him the other day and as he jumped out of his royal blue jetmobile, all of his fans cornered him, so I did not get to interview him, As I drove into town'I happened to run into Anna Johnston who is now Mrs, Clifford Moenning, She told me she still lived in dear old Milford and has raised the population by her seven kids, Before her marriage' Anna became an actress and was known as The Second Jane Russell, They really have some nice hotels in Milford now, The one where I am going to stay to spend my vacation is run by Earl Dornberger, He is now married to Phyliss Shivers and they are running the beautiful Conrad Hilton hotel overlooking the picturesque Republican-river, The hotel is really beautiful and is about fifty stories high so now Milford has another fabulous skyscraper hotel, His wife just gave birth to quadtriplets, Earl was so excited he bought six cigars for every citizen of Milford, We are now down to the last member of the Senior class--Barbara I-Ieskett, who is now Mrs, Charles Luthi, Her husband is president of the Put Em Together Airplane Factory of Milford, Barbara has really gone places since graduationf She is now on tour of the middle west for the premiere of her latest picture, The Country Girl, She has taken over Marilyn Monroe's place, She has also starteda big dude ranch where the water tower used to stand, Barbara really has a time being so busy and raising her three sets of triplets, We found it necessary to contact the mayor of the city the other day in order to secure the use of the city auditorium for our class re- union which will be held next week, and to our surprise we were greeted by Mr, jones who has become the mayor of Milford, We believe that all our class will attend the class reunion and all are looking forward to a fine opportunity to review the history of the last ten years, ll Ode To The Seniors The time for graduation is near, We never thought we'd make it this year, From M, R, H, S, our Alma. Mater, We venture to where there are many others Ours is the smallest class of all, Only four answer to roll call, And when it comes to work, Not one of us have ever shirked, Larry Jones is a swell guy, He never bothers anyone, Always has a friendly grin, In life he will surely win, Barbara Heskett is a jolly good girl, There's mischief in her eyes, She gets the boys without a sigh, Of course, she never passes them by, Anna Johnston is a happy go lucky gal, Where ever she goes she is a pal, Some new trick she's always trying, In her Ford we see her flying, Earl Dornberger is a special chap, We never seem to know where he is at, He may be in Wakefield or New Orleans, Or dancing with the Queen of Queens, IZ Junior- Senior Banquet One of the prettiest junior-Senior banquets was held April 29, 1955, in the high school auditorium, The theme of the banquet was Moonlight and Roses , A green carpet was spread on the floor with pink and yellow roses on and around the trellis, In the background hung a big yellow moon with stars scattered around it, Moonlight and Roses in large letters were placed dn the curtains, The waitresses were dressed in colorful formals and the waiters in dark slacks and white shirts to fit the theme, The invocation was read by Rev, james McKeeman, The program was as follows: In the Evening by the Moonlightug Come into the Garden by Stanley Shiversg Advice from the Old Gardener by Arthur Jones, principalg Moon1ight Bay by the junior girlsg Bed of Roses by Carol Mellingerg ' Rock Garden by Larry jonesg Moonlight and Roses by Buford Miller, ' The menu was as follows: Rose Drop, Star Salad, Dew Drop, Moon Beams, Rose Stems, Rose Buds, Rose Pedals a la mode, Milky Way, Moon Stone and Starflowers, and Heavenly Body, JU IOR ClASS f. . p n BACK ROW: Mrs, Peleaux, sponsor, Buford Miller, Ronald Shandy, Stanley Shivers, FRONT ROW: Glena Babb. These kids'were sad looking exhibitions ,coming to school that morning, The girls, or what we ordinarily would have called girls, came dressed in men's shirts, jeans and hats, Their hair was in pigtails tied with ribbons and their clothes on backwards, The boys were just the opposite, posing as girls, My, we didn't know boys were so pretty dressed in buttons and bows, and with gobs of makeup on they really made a hit, During the entire day these lowly Freshmen appeared about school like this being careful not to talk back to any Seniors, Highlighting the day was the grand initiation held in the evening, Stunts were performed by the Freshmen directed by our judge Earl Dornberger, A kangaroo court was held to punish them for misbehavior during the day, Before going home the Seniors revealed their true feelings by treating the poor Freshmen to refreshments, Then the whole school went to the movies in junction City, 3:24.
