14kT1X'f..:, ,cZf'..-, This year saw impetus given to the sport of wrestling at Milford Mill. l'ntlCr the leadership of Coach John Lowe, a onetime collegiate wrestling Champion himself, the team proved itself proudly. XX'inning its match against Towson with a tally of seven honts to one, the Milford teznn showed the school the im- portanre of wrestling in the counts' athletic Curriculum. J 'X This vear, the varsity cagers of Milford Mill really gave the school something to cheer about. l'nder the able leadership of two new coaches, Mr. Vernall and Mr. Venetoulis, the team led Milford in a hair-raising race for the Cjountv Championship. Showing a spirit and determination which will be hard to beat in coming years, the Millers fought evcrv inch of the wav in the race for the County crown. The season started well for Milford as it triumphed over llereford and Sparrows Point. ,X setback fol- lowed when Towson defeated the Millers on the former team's floor. But the Milford team came back with victories over Parkville and Kenwood. .Xnother setback came when The Big Green lost to Franklin. Realizing that the race for the crown would be close, the Milford team showed its worth bv triumphing over Sparrow's Point, Dundalk and Hereford. But once again the march for the crown was hindered as Kenwood handed Milford its third defeat. Coming back and fighting hard, Milford defeated: Towson Franklin, Parkville, Dundalk, and Catonsville to be in a tie for hrst place. Hut Milford lost its chance when Catonsville handed Milford its fourth and hnal defeat. .Xlthough Milford did not win the championship, it can be proud of having the hnest team in the county. This team proved itself to be the kind that could win or lose with equal grace, and the type that did not know what giving up means. The trophies can come in other vears.
