School Histor The firsT shovel of dirT was Turned in The Spring of I948 on The fufure siTe of The Milford Mill Junior- Senior High School. Behind This were eighTeen years of eTTorT on The parT of The surrounding communiTies To have made available a high school To service The Woodlawn, Owings Mills, Hebbville, Pikesville, and RandallsTown areas. The building was compleTed in SepTember of I949 and was ready for occupancy. During The firsT year The Task noT only of esTablish- ing an insTiTuTion of learning buT of building The framework of TradiTion was begun. The Alma MaTer and Two pep songs were composed by sTudenTs. Green and whiTe were selecTed as The school colors in a school-wide elecfion. The STudenT Council was organized and began operaTion wiTh John Sandbower as iTs firsT presidenT. The musical and dramaTic de- parTmenTs made Their debuTs. Our second year aT Milford broughT The expansion of The wonderful work already begun during The previous year. ln addiTion, however, we wiTnessed The maTuring of The musical and dramaTic deparTmenTs in Their presenTaTions, Lelawala and Junior Miss . The school newspaper graduaTed from The mimeo- graphed sheeTs To a prinTed four-page paper which won naTional honor. The Juniors Thrilled To The newly- designed and adopTed class rings. CommiTTees were organized To begin work on our TirsT Yearbook. This Third year aT Milford finds usdaT lasT a Tull- fledged insTiTuTe of learning. We have proven our- selves in every phase To be one of BalTimore CounTy's leading high schools. The MillereTTes won The respecT of The oTher counTy baskefball Teams by winning The BalTimore CounTy B'askeTball Championship afTer only Two years of league play. The enTire school, and especially The Seniors were looking To EvaluaTion wiTh some sense of apprehension. The Yearbook STaTf was busily aT work in SepTember canvassing The sur- rounding viciniTy for pafron ads. All Through The Tall and early winTer The sTaTf was hard aT work sTriving To meeT The deadline of February lsT. The DramaTic Club presenTed iTs second annual producTion, Every Family l-Tas One . Spring found The Seniors looking forward eagerly and yeT wiTh some regreT To June bTh. The remaining classes realize ThaT wiTh The firsT grad- uaTion in MilTord's hisTory, The school is losing a hosT of capable leaders. However, we have every confi- dence in The capabiliTy of The classes who will follow in The TooTsTeps of The Class of '52. Our hisTory is shorT To daTe, buT we are making sTrides To hold our place among our elders in The counTy, ciTy, and sTaTe. Hail Milford High, Thy praises we will sing, Glory and honor we will ever bring: True in our hearTs To Milford we will be, Our love shall ever hold us close To Thee. Should The youTh of mankind Tail To believe in a beTTer TuTure, man would surely be doomed. lT is our privilege and our righT To look aT The world Through rose-colored glasses while we may. We are noT alTogeTher opTimisTic or Tranquil in our ouTlook, Tor awareness of whaT is Taking place Today does noT warranT. does noT allow, leThargy. MosT surely ours is To be a Time oT ausTeriTy and somber Tinges. Many of us are To be Taken inTo miliTary service. Many are To die.
