Mr. Lund Meets With Concerned Students, Group Milford High School will long remember the teachers' strike that faced all of Milford last September, for it was through the efforts of Mr. Roy Lund that Milford High was kept opened. Mr. Lund encouraged the students to attend school so that precious days would not be missed. Although the duties of a high school principal are many, Mr. Lund still had time to talk with the students, and many took ad- vantage of his Hopen-doorf' policy by speaking to him about matters concerning school and themselves. Mr. Lund has always made himself available to talk to the various clubs and groups at Milford High. During the year, he met with the Concerned Students Group, an organi- zation which has gained a great deal of influence in trying to institute changes in Milford High. The Student Council had also received a great deal of praise from Mr. Lund and he has done his best in providing the students wants. Mr. Roy Lund Principal Although his schedule was very busy, Mr. Lund took a few mo- ments to relax from the daily problems of administration.

Mr. John McCarthy McCarthy Vocational Guidance Counselor Joins Staff The work-study program under Mrs. Florence Colby served between sixty and seventy students. For the most part, the stu- dents found their own jobs, attended school the first five periods and worked during the afternoon. They received credits and quality points and were graded by their employer each marking period. While helping students with their academic problems, the Guidance Department was also concerned with informing college-bound seniors about application procedures. Their library of college catalogues and helpful advice aided seniors in choosing the right college. A new vocational guidance counselor, Mr. Joseph Carberry, assisted students who wished to further their education through technical and mechanical training. As Work-Study counselor, Mrs. Colby enjoyed helping students find jobs. Seniors often asked Mr. McCarthy for help in finding their colleges.
