gi? if fgg Mr. Robert Blake Assistant Superintendent Dr. Reuben Swimmer Director of Pupil-Personnel Relations Mr. Richard Herman Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education Mr. George Vitelli Mr. Anthony DeFrancesc0 Superintendent Assistant Superintendent for Business Affairs Teachers' Strike Dela s pening of Schools For the first time in the history of the Milford School System, the Milford Education Association voted to strike by an overwhelming majority. This unexpected action delayed the opening of the Milford schools for one week. Through meetings between the representatives of the Milford Educa- tion Association and the Milford Board of Education, agree- ments were finally reached and students reluctantly returned to school. Many new innovations were introduced in Milford High School, including the new Physics and General Science Laboratories and several new courses. Ofhce detention was eliminated due to the new teachers' contracts. ln answer to the requests made by students, a new study hall program was set up for the first four periods. Students who wished to do their work went to the study-study in the cafeteria. The other students went to the talk-study in the auditorium and were allowed to talk among themselves. A new addition to student and faculty relationships was the beginning of the English, Science, Mathematics, and His- tory Councils. A chosen student would attend department meetings and provide teachers with students, ideas and points of view.

Mr. Lund Meets With Concerned Students, Group Milford High School will long remember the teachers' strike that faced all of Milford last September, for it was through the efforts of Mr. Roy Lund that Milford High was kept opened. Mr. Lund encouraged the students to attend school so that precious days would not be missed. Although the duties of a high school principal are many, Mr. Lund still had time to talk with the students, and many took ad- vantage of his Hopen-doorf' policy by speaking to him about matters concerning school and themselves. Mr. Lund has always made himself available to talk to the various clubs and groups at Milford High. During the year, he met with the Concerned Students Group, an organi- zation which has gained a great deal of influence in trying to institute changes in Milford High. The Student Council had also received a great deal of praise from Mr. Lund and he has done his best in providing the students wants. Mr. Roy Lund Principal Although his schedule was very busy, Mr. Lund took a few mo- ments to relax from the daily problems of administration.
