But double sessions keep the freshmen in the dark about a lot of things-even going home. Seniors learn the secrets of electricity from Mr. Rice as he lights up the bulb. Then board their buses in the bright, white world on the day after the day off.

' bi 'x 'if FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT Despite double sessions at Milford High School, there is a broad curriculum, ranging from machine shops to Latin, and catering to the needs and interests of all the students. There are eleven major fields of specialization. They include art, business, foreign languages, home economics, industrial arts, mathe- matics, music, physical education, science, social studies, and language arts. Each area of specialization offers courses which include practice, as this high school was planned and equipped to give an opportunity to learn by doing. Appreciation of English writers learned in Mrs. Bea1e's English class. ,,. .Qpv fx X L This year, Milford High School initiated the demerit system, whereby three minor misdemeanors are punishable by an hour's deten- tion. Another system, which is relatively new in education, has also been established at Milford High in 1958. This is a dual system of certificates and diplomas distinguishing between those who have actual- ly completed the curriculum on a high school level, and those who have completed four years in the high school. A modern curriculum, housed in a beautiful building, makes Milford High School students justly proud of their school. Auto shop gives opportunity in applied mechanics. The science department, includ- ing biology, physics, and chemistry, affords such opportunities in the laboratories. The homemaking cle- partment, with its practice house and play school, and the electric, metal, woodworking, machine, and drafting shops of the industrial arts department are some of the best equipped in the state.
