K, c ll: N XX f K V- qi xv gr a The new and the old-our theme is neces- sarily the contrast between the two. Our class has been very fortunate to spend its senior year in a high school which is one of the most advanced and well equipped in the state of Connecticut. Although we attended it for only one year, I'm sure that its wonderful influence must have helped us immeasurably. The memory of the new high school is the fresher in our minds and our yearbook must through necessity feature it, but let us not for- get the three years spent in the old school. We've had some delightful times in both the new and old schools-the sports events, the rallies, the dances, the class plays,--we've enjoyed these and all the other activities, and I'm sure without them school-life would be very dull. But, though we all realize that these years we've spent in high school have been four of the happiest and finest years of our lives, we must also realize that they have been some of the most constructive and educational ones. I sincerely hope that we will go through life manifesting to an even greater degree the commendable spirit that we've shown in high school. .Y V K i x 7 Qedzbwfzbn We, the class of 1952, dedicate this book of memories to the progressive spirit of educa- tion that is in the new Milford High School. With grateful hearts, we shall remember the purpose of that spirit-to become worthy of our heritage. With grateful hearts, we dedicate this book of memories. With cheerful hearts, we have enjoyed the fellowship of our teachers and our friends throughout our four years. With cheerful hearts, we dedicate this book of memories. With minds molded by many influences we have acquired an eagerness for knowledge and higher education, which shall remain with us in the future. With minds that have been molded, we dedicate this book of memories. And finally, with inspired hearts, we are prepared and eager to meet the future, striving to make this world of ours a better world than we have found it. CLASS HISTGRY 19481952 In the early days of September 1948 there migrated to the halls of Milford High School an unsophxsttcated group of about one hundred and eighty freshmen of whrch we were a mayor part Little did we realize the rough and stony way which we would have to travel for the next ten months Little did we realize the great task of becoming part of the Maroon and White from the banks of the Wepawaug A great shining light revealed to us the beginning of a new era in our lives A magnificent and hearty welcome was extended to us by the Seniors class of 49 at the annual Freshmen Welcome Dance During our first term much time was spent in weldtng us into a um hed class which would spend the next four years sharing the joys trials and tribula tions of high school One of the major factors which built up our new environment was the engoyment of viewing our own high school athlettc teams rn sportsmanlike competition all eagerly awaiting the day for more active participation Although many other experiences became part of the joys of our first year as underclassmen a dark shadow was cast upon us by the death of Mrs Davidson who was loved by many from both the student body and the faculty and administration In August of 1949 as a prelude to our Sophomore year came the long awaited ground breaking ceremony of our new high school an event which w1ll linger rn the minds of many as a great step forward in preparing young men and young women for the job of becoming true citizens As school opened in the fall of 1949 one thing seemed to stand out above all others This was the year when because of crowded conditions our class became separated For this main reason our sophomore class became known as the forgotten class although the athletic ability of many of our classmates became our pride and joy Our unror year found us with a great realization that we had now become upper classmen Time waits for no man and events and happenings of the year soon sped giving Day became an unforgettable one for us this year tn so much as our fighting gridiron Indians downed our rivals from across the river to the count of 9 0 Our Junior Festival unror Play Date Bart and the memorable unror Prom comprised our outstanding achievements for the year Many of us will never forget the day when our rings arrived As hands and rings sparkled it was the first sign of our full commttment to the yoys of upperclassmen It was with joys and antrcrpations yet mingled with sorrows that we entered the halls of a beautiful new high school to begin our Senior year It was to be the last year when we as a class were to share the many experiences and joys which come out of an intimate fellowship such as we have tried to maintain for these past four years With the election of Al Bartkevrclus as our class president we set out to fulfill our desires of making this the most memorable year rn our lives With a strong vocational guidance service under the leadership of Miss OConnor and Mr Hopkins many of us were very skillfully steered down the right paths of the future A new marking system presented itself in the beginning of the year which was to show more clearly the students ability in certain fields of study Weekly auditorium sessions and clubs provided us with a program of social act1v1t1es during the school hours Several yoys and laughs will always be remembered whenever we think of our Semor Dramatic production of Cheaper by the Dozen the amazing story of one Gilbreth family Our Senior Prom was a spectacular event enloyed beyond words by all who attended As our Class Night Banquet and Graduation approach a strange feeling almost of hesrtancy and yet with a surging of pride and a consciousness of achievement comes over us as we look back over four years which we spent together as an outstanding example of the future leaders of the world 105 , , . . . 3 7 7 7 7 , 1 l U . .
