'thi OUR NEW ELEMENTARY BUILDING This modern and beautiful structure was built to relieve crowded conditions at the building now referred to as the high school building. This latter structure could not accommodate adequately more than four hundred students. With the enrollment at more than five hundred, and a first grade class coming in each year with approximately seventy pupils to require two class rooms, plans were started in 1953 to erect a new elementary building. In 1954, the Easterday Construction Company of Culver, Indiana, was awarded the contract, and work started in July, 1954. It was opened for limited use in September, 1955. Open house was held on Sunday, November 6, an event which was attended by more than eight hundred persons. t
