HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF l956 Mary Blub blub Derwyn fancy meetang you skan davang at the bottom of the Medaterranean Ocean' Derwyn Blub blub It s certaanly surprasang to blub meet you here at the bottom of the ocean Mary seeang that we havent met sance hagh school Blub those were the good old days' Mary Blub they sure were Remember back an 44 when 65 doomed urchans started an Mass Petty and Mrs Barnes classes'-I Derwyn No I dont remember I dadnt come to Malford untal the fifth grade but l understand that only twenty sax of the oraganal saxty five graduated at Malford Hagh School Mary Oh you dont blub remember all the fun we had Gee we had plays all through the first five grades besades havang readang wratang and arlthme tac blub Derwyn The first thang I blub remember as the safety patrol an the saxth grade We thought we were blub pretty amportant then Mary But our egos were let down when we entered the new bualdang to find we were the lowest stratum of socaety there Derwyn Watch out for that shark' Mary That was a close call Blub remands me of the taanes an the eaghth grade when we nearly won some debatang contests Derwyn We had fun that year Besades debatang we had a newspaper a play blub 8 B paanted Room I2 and we concluded the year wath a class trap to Whalom Park and Benson s Wald Anamal Farm That year we had class officers for the whole year anstead of changang durang the year as we dad before Mackey Wasell was our presadent Kenny Sanborn vace presadent Connae Comolla secretary and Kenny Bowler treasurer wath Mass Nagle and Mr Canfield as advasors Derwyn That year Freshman Ameracan Legaon awards were gaven to Clara Matchell and Robert Fasher We also had our first amportant dance the Hallowe en Party Blub another amportant event whach occurred was the arraval of fourteen Amherst students to our class We topped off our first year an hagh school wath a trap to Nantasket Beach Mary Remember blub when we were wase fools we sponsored the Sophomore Hop We also partacapated an Kaley Praze Speakang whach Ronnae Avena and Sandra Came won We had the same advnsors and the same presadent untal Bob Moulton took over Carl Fraser was vace presadent Carol O Conner secre tary and Bucky Fasher was treasurer for the next three years The kads really dad well an sports that year Fasher Moulton Paton Brown Bonner Matchell and Salva all made varsaty basketball teams Derwyn In the eleventh grade there were many new teachers two of whom were our class advasors Mass Stevens and Mr Matkus Mary Hey look at that octopus over there' Derwyn It may be gruesome Iookang but at s harmless To get back to-blub what we were sayang we had our only 3 act play that year Arsenac and Old Lace under the able darectaon of Mass Byrne Remember the fun we had at our z , . Duck Judy Duck Judy Duck Judy Duck Judy Duck Judy Duck Judy Duck I then came upon a cake bakung contest the partucupants all beung former housewuves Among them I recognuzed the shades of Laura Leach Avus Boutelle Jean Burgeson Duxue Melendy Janet McCormack and Prtsculla Rush I was amazed to see Bull Sweezy rudung un a ruck shaw drawn by Bucky Fusher lnquurung I duscovered that Bucky Fusher had been presudent of Earths first colony on the moon and that Bull Sweezy had been hus personal chauffeur After leavung the cake bakung contest I passed a large field where Donald Watts was harvestung wheat as he had done on hus large prosperous farm un the muddle west Upon hearung cu buzzung sound I recognuzed Sandra Came a dental hy guenust seated un the dentust chaur havung her teeth drulled by that expert dentust Derwyn Holder Mercury pounted out a sugn that read Secretaries Club Upon enterung I saw several shades whom I knew Presudung over the club was Vuvuan Curtus who had been secretary to the presudent of Juputer Other members of the club uncluded Esther Hammond Thelma Pauge Duane Page Judy Forbes Carol O Conner and Sheula Cassudy At thus meetung they were duscussung theur ex peruences as secretarues to famous men on Earth As I contunued by travels through Tartarus I came upon Gerry Wulkuns who had been the desugner of the Earth s largest man made satellute Together wuth hus chuef mechanucs Duck Tortorellu and Duck Whute he was repaurung the headlught of a Model T Ford I detected a fragrant aroma un the aur and saw a beautuful flower garden un whuch Nancy Henderson famous for her pruze roses was workung I next saw Clara Mutchell waxung skus and she unformed me that she ha been a three tume Olympuc wunner of the women s downhull sku run I met the shades of Connue Comollu Carolune Holland and Eluzabeth Murray They told me of many of theur unterestung experuences as nurses on Earth Wuth them were Colette Best who had done work un occupatuonal therapy and Heather Courage a former teacher for cruppled chuldren I saw a bundle of grocerues comung towards me and as ut drew closer I recognuzed the shade of Tommy Quunn He who had once been manager of a large chaun of grocery stores was now a bundle boy Concludung the vusut through the Elysuan Fuelds we came upon a rushung brook Here Roger Crooker sat flshung He had succeeded Ted Wulluams as the presu dent of hus Fushung Tackle Company We had reached the end of Tartarus and notuced someone doung push ups I recognuzed the athlete as the shade of the former world s champuon lady wrestler Kay Hutchunson Well Judy ut certaunly has been unterestung meetung our old classmates agaun and ut probably wont be long now before we uoun them as unhabutants of Pluto s unfernal kungdom , I - I I I I I ' . .. . - s .. . . . , .... banquet for the play cast at the White Gobbler'9 Class officers were Bob Moulton president John Ferguson Vice President and Mary Ann Babcock secretary Mary ln June delegates were chosen for Girls State and Profile Boys State which Included Judy Eaton Connie Comollu Ruth Brockner Clara Mitchell Mary Lou Calvettl Bucky Fisher Dick Haskell .lim Brown and you Derwyn You were also In the fabulous Dixieland Band started by Mr Reed another new teacher We ended the year with our tribute to the seniors the Junior Prom Derwyn At the beginning of the senior year we had spent 65 I of our life un school Now the end blub was In sight Bob Moulton was again elected president Clara Mitchell vice president Mary Ann Babcock secretary and our advisors were Miss Byrne and Mr Reed The first malor event was class pictures which we received ln December That year we sponsored canteens In addition to our two bug dances the Harvest Ball and the Sno Ball Mary Among these accomplishments the basketball quintet comprised of seniors were semi finalists In the State Class B Tournament and Clara Mitchell got the D A R award Remember the wonderful prom the lunlors gave us at the end of the year?
