MOCK CQNVENTICD Nominating Demonstrating . z I vQJSTZgff f'ff . R' - if' X , , I i ,, :V Q ,unlink- r St X'-4. . 'C Attorney General I-lultman, our keynoter. Chairman Dave Clark and Secretary Patty Morey On April 10, 1964, the Milford High Schoo Gymnasium was the scene of clutter, noise and gaietyg for on this night the Mock Republican Nominating Convention sponsored by the senior class and guided by Mr. William Rumpel, took place. After many weeks of preparation and one week prior to the Convention devoted to soapbox campaigning for eight major candidates, the big night was upon us. Realistic bunting camouflaged the stage, numerous Red, White and Blues fluttered above the scene of excitement and various cam- paign material disguised the gymnasium and turned it into a lively convention hall. l Attorney General Evan I-Iultman was the key note speaker and delivered a stimulating address to students and adults from Milford and the sur- rounding areas. Although on the first official ballot of the Convention Senator Barry Goldwater appeared to have the lead, Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge pulled ahead and won by a safe margin on the second ballot. The Mock Republican Nominating Con- vention proved to be a tremendous learning process for all participants and onlookers. It's one event that won't soon be forgotten by M. H. S. students.
