VOCAL MUSIC This year our vocal department was under the direction of Miss Ruth Ahlers. Mixed Chorus had 32 members and Girls Glee club had 33 members. In October, two mixed quartets tried out for the All-State Chorus. One was selectedg Janice Christof- f9I'S0f1. Carol Meyer. Eddie Sternberg, and Kent Green. All- State Chorus was held in Des Moines over Thanksgiving vacation. The vocal grouns gave one half of the Christmas concert. In the finale, the chorus sang accompanied by the band.

This e vent consists of select students in Iowa, Minnesota, and discon- sln all singing under a noted director. This year the director was Lt. Robert L. Landers who conducts the uS1ng1ng Sepgeangsul the comolete Mixed Chorus went to the U1CK1HSOn County Music Festival. The massed chorus was directed by Paul Nissen from Mason City, Iowa. In April, the vocal derantment out on the oneretta HCarmen' w1th Mixed Chorus members having the leading roles.
