Cultural Studies Gumbyitis Over the years Milford High School students have developed a culture all their own. Here is a look at some of the strange and sometimes frightening phenomenon that occur in every¬ day school life. The art of trying to look like one’s fly is not down. Keep smiling Lionel. Miss Tomaso shows the power of the teen idol over its followers. She thinks, talks and moves like Gumby. Here she is doing the Gumby- dance. Bubble Brain His Mom never lets him drink soda at home. Now he resorts to hiding in closets, under tables and behind curtains in order to sneak a drink. But the risks are high. In this photo Scott displays a common result of drinking soda too quickly, “Bubble-Brain.” Hose Head r es, Derek and John are two more victims of Chalk Damage. By reathing in large amounts of chalk dust they have lost the motor eflexes of their faces and elbows. The Look Melissa Rochatka has always had the secret desire to be a bank robber, but fear has kept this desire hidden. She now compensates for this misplaced hope by wearing panty-hose over her head at parties and other public functions. Some students just have that knack of looking comfortable wherever they are. They are envied for their casual poses and their ability to look cool in any situation. Chris is not one of those students. 17
