Who I am and where will I go Is a dream people would like to know? A dream to catch and hold forever Is to love tomorrow forever and ever. A successful life is another dream, Fogged in your mind it can’t be seen. For independence is the greatest drive Finding out you’re really alive. Someday a reality your dream will become, The dream that was always number one. Dreaming is joy in every day, Being able to give your love away. To be kind to those who live apart, A special kindness in every heart. Finally: a dream is to know you’re always free To be the things you want to be. by Lisa Mazzone o, mJF : - i%F Ml. w % MW :v ® r j Jr y«i ,V« JraKyl ♦ ■ ■i|s 1 $ J| Wmm V f Wk ' .MgL 5 .’ 6 ? Boys dream of firemen or one who goes out of space, Maybe even the president of the United States. Girls dream of being a nurse or like their mom, Who always try to be so calm. Children forever dress up and pretend, But, they know someday pretending will end. They always want to be someone on T.V., Superman, Wonderwoman, whoever they see. Dreaming is lots of candy and toys Always made for girls and boys. Dark and scary, colorful and bright, A child dreams from day to night. A child’s dream holds many fears, And often enough it will bring those tears. Tears for love and security to hold. Security and love which will never grow old. As a child grows he’ll have the time To reach the dream he wants to find. When I grow up 1 dream to have Lots of love and never be sad. Children’s dreams are exciting and great, But don’t forget, dreaming is never too late. by Lisa Massone I closed my eyes for a moment and the moment is gone . . . They say I’m a dreamer I guess I’ll always be For without my hopes and petty wishes I guess I’m just not me. There are lots of things in my mind That I suppose I may never find But the farther away they might seem I may someday find them in a dream. Although my wish may not be so real And may not show anyone else quite how I feel It will be there running through my mind like a stream There is nothing like the thought of having my own special dream. Paul Fitzpatrick The one dream I think we all dream of over and over again, is the dream to be happy forever . . . Dreaming is for everyone, Big and little it’s so much fun. Children start when they’re so small, Dreaming what they’ll be and all. Looking into space you’ll stare Even though there’s nothing there. One keeps hope and faith in mind, Something you hope you’ll always find. Dreaming is reaching that certain goal That in your mind you will always hold. 4 TABU of CONTENTS, Introduction . p. 2 Dedication . p. 6 Faculty Section . p. 11 Senior Section . p. 21 Superlatives . p. 72 Sports Section . p. 99 Activities Section . p. 137 Class of 79 . p. 162 Class of 80 . p■ 164 Class of 81 . p■ 166 Ad Section ... p. 169 EDITORS — NANCY MCCARTHY, DAVID ZACHILLI, LYNN JACOBS BUSINESS MANAGERS — STEPHEN CAPUZZIELLO, SEAN NEILAN CANDY VENDORS — PAUL FITZPATRICK, RENEE MAILLOUS, JOHN COOK ART — MICHAEL BAVARO, DAVID RAM, ANNETTE STEINER TYPISTS — AUDREY PARISI, LIZA MAZZONE, RENEE MAILLOUX, CHRISTINE HAJJAR STAFF — TRICIA CATUSI, LINDA MANCINI, DEBBIE RICHARD, JO-ANN SANTORO, PATRICIA PERNA, MARY INNIS, LISA CIARAMICOLI, ELLEN SANNICANDRO, DONNA FILOSA, HOLLY DIOMEDES, CONCIE SAYLES, JAMES MAZZUCHELLI, JYLL NESTA, ROB PEARL, MARY DELVECCHIO, CHERYL BONNER, KAREN LEONARDI, AMY KINSMAN, JO-ANN NEGRI, LAURIE KROM, DOREEN BURNS, SUE O’MEARA, MARK DOCURRAL, DENISE ARDITO, DARLENE DIAS, TERRI BACCHIOCCI, RENEE MAILLOUX, SANDRA FURKHART, JILL FLETCHER, ALAN KENNEDY, BONNIE WADE MARYELLEN DELVECCHIO, COLLEEN SULLIVAN, CHARLENE COSTIGAN, BETH WEIGEL, SHEILA TODD, MAURA CULLEN, TRICIA WEBBER SPECIAL THANKS TO MR. A WRESTLING SEASON TO REMEMBER A test for sports fan. Diagram what you believe would be the per¬ fect season. Go ahead, try. Chances are your diagram would not be as perfect as the 1977-78 Mil¬ ford High wrestling team’s actual season was. Consider a perfect 13-0 regular season record. Consider four men finishing the season with undefeated records. Consider Greg Doyle ' s first place finish in the Lowell Christmas Tour¬ ney. Consider a record breaking 250 points in the Division II South Sec¬ tional. Eight individual champions in the same tournament, and 11 men qualifying for the states. Finally, consider a state champi¬ onship team, two individual champi¬ ons, and a Coach of the Year. OK, finish your diagram. If you aren’t an extreme optimist, your chart matches the above ac¬ complishments. “Yes, it was about a perfect season as you can get,” Coach Nick Zac- chilli stated after the two day State Tournament had ended at the M.H.S. gym. “We took the two major tourna¬ ments, we had individual champions, now maybe if we can take something at the New England’s it will be that much better,” he added. This season capped nine years of building for the M.H.S. wrestling program. This season was inevitable. With every starter returning from last years’ 11-4 squad, it would have taken the Russian National team to knock off the Hawks in the regular season. It was an emotional scene at the gym after Jim Mazzuchelli had taken the 170 pound individual champi¬ onship, and on the team title for Mil¬ ford. Hawk boosters were running around with index fingers aloft, and parents and wrestlers alike were un¬ consciously hugging everyone from sight. It was the last mountain the Hawks had to conquer. “Mazzuchelli was just super, “Zacchilli mentioned. He had the flu on Friday and was wrestling with an 100 degree temperature and for him to just come through and win like he did is just unreal.” The tournament was the toughest team Milford had all year, but they proved their worth. “It was probably the closest tour¬ nament in years, three teams fighting to the finish,” Zacchilli said. “There were outstanding wrestlers all around and there were alot of sur¬ prises, alot of number one seeds get¬ ting knocked off. We honestly didn’t wrestle as best we could, but we were there when we had to be — in the finals,” he concluded. Still, after he had learned that his team had clinched the team title, the best was yet to come. After the last of the over 200 matches over the weekend had been completed, Zac¬ chilli learned that he had been named Division II coach of the year by his fellow coaches. “It is definitely the biggest honor ever bestowed upon me,” a proud Zacchilli said. “It was more the kids than me, I don’t think anything can top this.” After nine years of waiting, M.H.S. wrestling has reached the pinnacle, and with Nick Zacchilli guiding them, it could be nine years before any team can knock them off that pinnacle. We would also like to congratulate Jim Mazzuchelli for winning the 170 pound weight class in the New Eng¬ land’s, and Greg Doyle for coming in second in his 141 division weight Coach of the Year Nick Zacchilli with State Champs Greg Doyle and Jim Maz- £la ss - „. ir , _ , Tne Milford Daily News zuchelli. The Band’s season begins in late summer to prepare for half time shows during the weekend football shows. During this time the band also prepares concert music for their annual winter and spring concerts. Then in May the Band takes to the street to get ready for parades such as the Memorial Day parade. It has been a pleasure to work with such eager kids and to perform. Best Wishes to “78” Don Iaccovelli Donald A. Iacovelli, MHS Band Direc¬ tor. J. Ablondi, N. Annantuonio, S. Andres, J. Andres, A. Their performances were outstanding. This year, the band has some thing that no other band has. They have some fine dedicated girls who add color and depth to their performance. The rifle squad, with their new uniforms, were always there to show us a fine routine with their rifles always spinning. The major¬ ettes, with their batons in hand, were always ready to make us proud. The flag corps, with their brilliant red and white colors, made the band the finest. And the field directors, with their whistle in hand, were always there to start the band and march them down the field. We would just like to thank these girls for showing us that we have one terrific band. Thanks girls! You did a great job! 156 Captins — Holly Diomedes, Patti Perna. Members — B. Stratton, A.
