Miss Del Castello and her attractive office assistants, standing left to right: Mary Carey, Connie Wright, Tina Oneschuk, Eleanor Mongiat, Anna Peronti. Seated left to right: Theresa Del Cas¬ tello, Christine Antelli, Jean Strobeck and Helen Hommand. Principal ' s Office Center of Activity To the members of the class of 1945: In retrospect we recall that you began your high school careers in the Fall of 1941, a date which will be stamped in his¬ tory as “the end of the beginning”. The summer of 1945 brings with it your gradu¬ ation, and in all probability this date will be earmarked in the annals of history as “the beginning of the end”. Yours is the same class which 12 years ago started out in the pursuit of formal education during the year of 1933, which already has been recorded in history as the time at which the world’s biggest and longest depres¬ sion was at its greatest depth. From the above it is quite obvious that during the entire era of your schooldays either economic and financial depression or bloodshed and warfare have set up about us living conditions of continual turmoil. “Acquirement and pleasure should go hand in hand” is an educational axiom that we might well consider, and accord¬ ingly make allowances for the obstacles under which you have carried on. As we approach the horizon of better and happier days ahead always keep in mind your Class Motto, “Virtue Alone is True Nobility”. Apply it to your every thought, word and deed, and your educa¬ tion will have been realized according to a now famous quotation which states: “The general purposes of education are to pre¬ serve the good, to repudiate the evil—and to give scope to the sublime law of pro¬ gression”. James A. Higgiston, Acting Principal. 7

Above we see the School Committee and Superintendent at one of their weekly meetings. They are: left to right: Mr. Joseph D. Battista, Mr. Marco A. Balzarini, Supt. Frank C. Berry, Mr. Joseph V. Carey, Mrs. Mary E. A. Murray, and Mr. Walter E. Corbett. Mr. Thomas F. Davoren was absent at this meeting. Our Administration in Good Hands Congratulations and Best Wishes to the Class of 1945. May you continue to carry on with the same lofty ideals that have in¬ spired you in your undergraduate days. The fine impression you leave behind augurs well for the future. Good luck and God bless you. Sincerely, Frank C. Berry. We are deeply grateful to the members of the school committee for arranging and carrying on our school program in a man¬ ner beneficial to all. We are cognizant of the fact that this is no easy task, particu¬ larly in wartime; however they have done a thorough job in a most conscientious manner. Although we never had Mr. Frank C. Berry as principal, we have come to know and admire the thoughtful and efficient manner in which he has administered his duties as Superintendent of the Milford Schools. He has always had the student’s welfare at heart. Many good wishes for your continued success! 6
