Mrs. Stapleford NEW FACES Sharon Tingle Oh yes, Mrs. Summers. No, Mrs. Summers. I'll try not to look out the window any- more. I'm sorry, Mrs. Summers. I know I'm blushing. Everyone is looking at me. Some are laughing. If only I was that spar- row. Look at him, right back in that puddle again. Hey, only one minute till lunch. I better get ready. Oh, what's the use! I'll be at the end of the lunch line anyhow. 4 — Opening Section MHS IS YOU!! Opening Section — 5 FROM THE OLD... TO THE NEW Architectural, Opening Section — 7 A day in the life of I sought for truth and asked around. But no one seemed to know How to lead me where it might be found That I might wiser grow. I asked a man with hair of white; He said, I've failed to find The way myself, for time takes flight And leaves the truth behind. A scholar who from many schools Had learned and earned degrees Replied, The world is full of fools — Ah, truth from all men flees. I saw a lovely creature pass Whose beauty won her fame And fortune, but she owned — alas. That truth was in her name. A man of means would surely know, I felt, for he had gained The best this would can give, but, oh. For him his wealth sustained. I told a fellow traveler this When despair had made me ill And replaced my search with morbid bliss — I would have had it still. But this one who claimed no kin, for age And learning, fame and wealth Had not seen fit to call him sage As yet, has restored my health: For master teacher though he be. He claimed no truth was his. Yet in showing me how to find it, he Has taught me what it is. James Mervine 1970 Faculty — 12 Faculty all the way and out . . . In school... THANKS... Mr. Glenn Moyer, serving as principal of Mil- ford High School for the past three years has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is a man of change. The abolishment of the dress code and senior exams, and more extracurricular activities were all supported by him. Mr. Moyer's strong determination, unique concepts, and faith in the student body have all gone toward not only construction of the new high school but to the building of a new idea. It is with great pride and gratitude that the Class of 1971 dedicates The Milfordian to Mr. Glenn Moyer. Mr. Glenn Moyer also is recognized for his dedication to his family and his community. Love for all Was in his heart. His time was spent In helping others. And then from this world He passed on to another. Colonel Edward F. Quinn, Jr. was born on August 9, 1910. He served in the Army until 1964 when he retired and come to Milford. For six years he worked with the students of Milford High School and for the last couple of years he was the Senior counselor. Through his years he made it a point to be a friend to all students. It is our regret that we only now, with his death, fully realize our gratitude toward him. Mr. Quinn — 29 Seniors As Freshmen we were rugged and energetic As Sophomores, full of noise and spirit As Juniors, unpredictable But at the age when time is precious And the long road to graduation comes to an end The Class of '71 looks forward to commencement And the beginning of a new life trend Concerned not with which way we went Or curves and obstacles in our paths But following our own separate guides, individual needs and desires. With everyone preparing for the Change from now to then. Most Original Terry Rust Randy Holleger 32 — Seniors Gary Shelburn Abbott Joan Anne Acko Carlton E. Bucs 1, In The State Farmer in the dell was the jeering cry the Milford Buccaneer Basketball team received from upstaters. Milford returned this with three-hundred stickers that said. AGRICULTURE FEEDS YOU! The team finished their outstanding season with a 22-1 record, bowing only to Sussex Central in a close, hard fought game. Our hopes were high when we defeated Indian River, gunning Bedford, and Salesianum in the state play-offs and we went on to the semi-finals. These games gave Coach Dan McGinnis a proud record of one hundred wins. The Bucs defeated Wilmington High School on a Friday night at the University of Delaware by a score of 53-47. A crowd of over 4,000 overflowed the Field House at the University and saw the Buccaneers beat P.S. DuPont by a score of 50-43. Saturday night finally proved what we had known all year, Bucs are the Best! Coach Dan McGinnis 110 — Basketball THE BUCCANEERS ... THE CHAMPS! Maryvonne Clement Wow! That was great being this year with all of you, being an American kid, just as you are. You know, I have two lifes now; my French life, school, family, friends over there .. . and my American life, full of experience, new friends, a lot of fun. Hope you'll remember me, not as an exchange student but as a girl, because being French does not make me different of you. That's what I learned this year and I thank you for that. Soon, I'll be back to France and I'll never forget my friend overseas, and all around the world. Too bad a year is so short. Thank you again for having made it so wonderful. Merci Love, Peace, Maryvonne Clement Eduardo Ordonez When I first came to the U.S. to spend this year, I was worried about what was waiting for me: a school year in a different country, having to learn another language, no friends to help me. However, after I spent the first day in the High School, I realized how foolish it was to worry about it because I found that the students (like all North American people) were very friendly and nice, and they were always trying to help me understand each other and have a good time. They did a very good job. Even if some of you don't believe me, I want to say that I really enjoyed attend- ing Milford High School and studying here. I enjoyed it so much that I feel sorry for one thing: I don't have a chance to study another year here. I certainly want to thank all the teachers, students, and friends for giving me the friendship that helped me to have a wonderful time. I don't say good-bye because I will come back some day soon or later. So I'll say Hasta la vista, Amigos. Eduardo Ordo'nez AFS - 143 Seated: V. Sizemore—Ed.-in-Chief, N. Postles—Business Manager, H.
