Text from Pages 1 - 176 of the 1964 volume:

We dedicate our 1964 Milfordian to'Mr. John Kunkle. No one could be more deserving--he has allowed our staff to use his art room for a workshop. Each year his brainstorms lay the foun- dations for numerous artistic projects. He helps with the Prom, and is the invariable factor in its success. Mr. Kunkle has en- tered a pavilion in the 1964 World's Fair and we all wish him success. Good Luck. 5 Class of 1964 ORIAM Donna Kurzynowski John Parsons 7 BOARD OF EDUCATION LEFT TO RIGHT: C. T. Dickerson, Secretary; Joseph O. Penuel; Joseph Wright; George A. Robbins; Vice-Presi- dent; Max R. Corder, President. 8 . It is again that time of the year when another school term comes to a close and with it we lose a valuable group of people. The Class of 1964 has constantly striven to lead our school to even greater heights in both the athletic and scholastic competitions which are so necessary to the growth of our institution. As this intellectual growth and school spirit continue to progress, our physical plant also must continue to progress. In the past year this has led us to construct a new Junior High School and also improve the existing buildings. These improvements will further increase the quest for knowledge which is so vital to the growth of an institution for learning. I wish to extend my warmest congratu- lations to the Class of 1964 and wish you con- tinued success in life. C. T. Dickerson Superintendent School historians inform us that yours is the 64th Class to be graduated from the Mil- ford High School. You are also Milford's largest graduating class. During those sixty-four years our nation has changed from the horse and buggy era to that of the jet and rocket . Tremendous changes have occurred in the areas of eco- nomics, building, transportation, engineering, communication, and science. The type and quality of education you have received should enable you to cope with change. However, the basic characteristics of honesty, truth, loyal- ty, to God and Country, and respect for your fellow man remain as true in today's world as they did for those of the first graduating class. Congratulations to each of you upon the successful completion of your high school education. Sincerely yours, I'd W. W. Hickman Admin. Asst, in Charge of Instruction. I wish to extend my congx-atulations to the students of the Class of 1964 for their many fine accomplishments. You are a class of which the Milford community can be justifiably proud. In future years as you look through this fine edition of the Milfordian, I am sure it will bring to mind many fond and happy memories of your high school days. I wish you good health, success, prosperity, and happiness. May you always be able to look back on your high school career with pride and satisfaction. 7L Mrs. Eva Farlow Secretary to the Superintendent Mrs. Mildred Hoey Secretary to the Superintendent Mrs. Ida Corder Secretary to the Senior High Principal Mrs. Cathel Bennett Secretary to the Administrative Assistant Mrs. Mary Ann Hall Secretary to the Junior High Principal Best wishes to the Class of '64 W. Committee Prior to this year American Field Service student activities were handled by the entire Student Council. With the continued growth of this program it became necessary this year to create an A.F.S. Committee of the Student Council and Donna Fischer and Pat Achorn were co-chairmen. John Kuhlmann as faculty ad- visor and Pat Achorn as student representative served as members of the Milford A.F.S. Chapter to foster liaison between the Chapter and Student Council. The A.F.S. Committee has maintained the familiar A.F.S. bulletin board in the school lobby; arranged A.F.S. assemblies; assisted in the selection of Americans Abroad candidates and provided publicity for local news media. By far the most important activity was Milford's third annual A.F.S. weekend when this city and school played host to sixteen foreign students representing fifteen foreign nations who were spending this school year with American families in the lower penisular area. 49 My A.F.S. year at Milford has been a pleasant one. I had the best opportunities to understand your way of life as a friend of yours. My family, friends, school activities which I participated in many fields and my speeches be- came assistants to promote the better understanding be- tween you and me, while I was doing my best to adjust myself. I shared your fun, joys, and sorrows feeling the strongest school spirit I have ever had. I'm grateful to the people who have been so friendly to me and I thank the Milford High School for being such a nice host to me. This year will live in my mind forever as the unforgettable experience I've shared with you. I will never be able to say perfectly how much I enjoyed the whole stay in Milford High School. I shall never forget those happy days being called Micky” by everyone at everywhere, and those ex- citing moments at football and basketball games. I certainly enjoyed all my classes of kind and wonder- ful teachers with the nicest and unexpectedly friendly students. Before long I will find myself being home- sick for Milford, but all my memories remain deeply in my mind with sweetest smiles of my people. I heartily thank all of you for helping me and letting me enjoy this year in Milford, and hope you long remember me, a short girl with the black hair and black eyes.
