School Acizvzhes CHOOL activitlesl What a myriad of things that suggests' But I shall concern myself with only a limited few Let others deal with the rest elsewhere in this honored volume Assemblies, heretofore, were not particularly inspiring gatherings But this year the excitement all started with that seemingly harmless little song called Where, Oh XVhere Each class sang its own stanza Thats where the real trouble began, and with those funny little folk who call themselves unxors Ir seemed to afford them great enjoyment to razz the beautiful harmony of the honorable Seniors They turned Helen Kane on one occasion, attempted the call of the love sick pussy , and muttered several other phrases that no one but themselves could understand The Seniors, of course, mam tamed their traditional dignity through every attack, resorting to poetry for their revenge The Freshmens chief difficulty seemed to he 1n the lack of harmony, due, I suppose, to their large numbers The command would be heard, Freshmen, start your song They would start lt, unfortunately all at a different time The Sophomores suffered with the Seniors 1n their mu tual lack of numbers W1tl1 the be mmn of cheer ractice all this was ended but a new era g g P was be un One occasion I remember in articular when ever one had a g P Y chance to lead One enterprising young lad attempted willingly enough but, I regret to say, forgot how the cheer was led at the critical moment Nothing partner in pleasures was invited to try and succeeded very well in the attempt Two male members of the school were not so willing Persuasion was used then force, but both failed But cheers can t last forever so, that over, it was decided to teach us some of the dear old songs, but with what result? The theme song of Milford High School has become My Wild Irish Rose Intermmgled with these was a Yo Yo assembly where several of those present demonstrated their prowess with that tricky little toy All our activities seem to have music as their main source A very suc cessful glee club was organized which gamed honor at our Christmas enter tainment, where a short pageant was also presented Did anyone say band? Surely we had one of those, too, and it performed very well at its hrst public appearance, espec1ally when one considers that three months is a rather short time in which to master a musical instrument suffi clently well to be brought before the public The orchestra had a slightly better preparation although It has made 1ISBlf heard but once But that once was enough to malce us want to hear more of our noble players I wonder how they would enjoy playing for a school dance, which brings us to some thing else School wouldnt be school without our dances The first one was Hal lowe en, for the benefit of the penniless Semors as were all the others durmg the year except one, given by the equally needy umor Class The radio and phonograph serxed for most of them Howexer, at the one on St Patr1ck's . . . fl A 7 77 ' 7 - er - va , 1 ' ' Q! 77 ' et - - i , as . , . . , . if 77 Y - ' , - .
