They were: Marita Cooper, Ted Schirmer, Jim Zimmerman, Larry Jantze, Naomi Eigsti, Norman Roll, Dale Hoge, Ruth Smith, Joyce Miller, Robert Stutzman, Lowell Newton, Shirley Lux, Edward Saltzman, Marilyn Hansen, and Ora Roth. Our teacher was Mrs. Elmer Yost. Newcomers in our class as we passed along were: 1st grade—Barbara Williams, Beverly Stolz, Billy Oswald, Clifford Ander¬ son, Grace Roth, Bonnie Jean Roth, Donna Jean Gregg, and Erlis Miller. Our teachers were Miss Bernice Yost and Miss Helen Dauner. 2nd grade—Miss Dauner was our teacher with new members, Ardis Barker, Delverna Roth, and Robert Lee Springer. 3rd grade—Donna Fahrlander, James Rediger, Carol Ann Churchill, Raymond Zimmerman, Donald Hubbard, Janice Yost, Fred Feeken, Marvin Johnson, and Naomi Riley. Miss Schultz was our teacher. 4th grade—New members were John Aden, Laura Dewey, Laura Luebbe, Mary Stauffer, Helen Burkey, Annabel Miller, Howard Miller, and Myrna Stutzman. Our teacher was Mrs. Sutter. 5th grade—Grace Trabert, Clifford Roth, and Imogene Roth, with Miss Sweasey as our teacher. 6th grade—With Miss Sweasey as our teacher again, our new members were Dick Parks, Charles Parks, Eldon Miller, Marilyn Miller, and Jackie Larsen. Lowell Newton re-entered during this year. 7th grade—Iris Becker, Phyllis Chrisman, Tom Godbey, and Max Rich¬ ardson were new members. Donna Fahrlander rejoined our class. Mrs. Scott was our teacher. 8th grade—Joyce Buettgenbach and Yvonne Murphy were the new pupils, and Mrs. Scott was our teacher again this year. The entire senior class wills their brains, athletic ability, and splendid behavior to the rest of the school. ★ It is the year of 1962, and as we look into our telescopic radar receiver screen, we see the senior class of 1952 busy adapting themselves to the revised atomic world. John Aden is living on a sunny farm in Indiana, raising slop hounds for hound derbys. Iris Becker is living in Beverly Hills, California, after starring in MGM ' s majestic movie hit, Iris of Earl. Laura Dewey is running the Sunny Site Service Station and cafe and is writing political speeches on the side. —9 ij — don Naomi Eigsti, after having gone steady for eleven years, is now married and lives on a large sheep ranch in Hesston, Kansas. Donna Fahrlander is a big wheel in politics and is running for the office of Postmaster Ge neral for the term beginning in 1962. Lorence Forst is playing pro-basketball after breaking Clyde Lovellette ' s scoring records. They call him Leaping Lorence. Don Freeman has invented a new growth hormone which makes every¬ body tall. He now stands six feet four. Tom Godbey is a deep-sea diver working for a salvage company in the vicinity of Coon Creek. Larry Jantze is living in Mexico where he holds the title The World ' s Champion Bull Thrower. Norman Kuzel has migrated to Czechoslovakia where he is professor of Cacklejack languages at the University of Prague. Laura Luebbe is co-starring with Roy Rogers in the new western movie hit, Saddlesore. Joyce Miller is president of the Miller ' s High Life Company, after eight years of extensive executive training. Roland Miller is now a professional wrestler and is known as one of the meanest boys in the ring. Norman Roll has established a baker y in Ruby, Nebraska, where he specializes in making nut rolls. Ted Schirmer is now a co-partner in the Conner Roofing Company of Milford. Ray Schweitzer is now a champion brahma bull rider. He says driving a Crosley gave him the natural knack to ride bulls. Ruth Smith is a piano player in the New York symphony orchestra. Bob Stutzman discovered oil on his dad ' s farm and is now a big oil king. Delane Welsch is playing pro-football for the Cleveland Browns. Janice Yost has her own television program where she is the kiddie ' s favorite cowgirl, Tripalong Calamity. Our senior year has now gone by We ' ve reached Commencement Day This aim we wish to leave behind: Prepare for tomorrow today. The main activities of the class were the junior play, Take It Easy, presented in November and the junior-senior banquet given in May. The class also decorated for the senior baccalaureate and commencement. Miss Huston is the sponsor, and Mrs. Godbey is her assistant. They sponsored a roller skating party on November 12 in Seward. Three sophomore girls helped the junior class by participating in its play. Waiters and waitresses were chosen from this class to serve at the junior-senior banquet in the spring. Mr. Kuhre is the class sponsor. The class sponsor is Mr. Schmadeke. The freshmen were initiated in September. During the day the boys wore dresses and the girls wore overalls and plow shoes. They all had painted faces and carried a skinned mouse in a jar. The afternoon activities included an all-school picnic at the Trade School park. The freshmen ran backwards to the park where they went through various stunts to entertain the upperclass¬ men. Everyone had a good time—even the freshmen! Two students from each class were selected to serve as Student Council members. The Milford Chapter of the Future Farmers of America has thirty-three members. The average attendance at the meetings during the year was thirty. There were nine Green Hands initiated as members of the chapter after the meeting on October 8, 1951. The F.F.A. participated in the Homecoming parade in October, their float winning second place. In December, the F.F.A. and the F.H.A. sponsored a cooperative dinner for their parents. The faculty and Board of Education mem¬ bers were also invited. During the year, the chapter sponsored a pest-eradication contest with the losing side paying for eats at a fishing party this spring. The top three boys in the contest received prizes. Eigsti. _._ The F.H.A. organization has accomplished a great deal this year. Twenty- seven girls belong to this national club. During, the summer ten newly-elected officers attended Workshop at Doane College for three days. The girls became acquainted with the duties of their offices at this conference. This year the F.H.A. girls sold Christmas cards, sponsored a roller skating party with the F.F.A., and gave a party for their mothers. They also collected clothes for the F.H.A. Bundle Day, a national project of sending old clothes overseas. The F.H.A. and F.F.A. sponsored a cooperative dinner to which families of members, the faculty, and the board of education were guests. Pep Club is open to any girl in high school and eighth grade who main¬ tains a 3 average. This year there were twenty-eight members. The club sold candy, apples, pop corn, doughnuts, coffee, and pop at all home games. The Pep Club sponsored a Homecoming celebration in October, which honored Milford High Alums and included a bonfire rally and parade. The event was considered very successful. They also presented a victory queen and attendants in February at the annual Victory Queen program preceding the district basketball tournament. During September and October several of the members gave poems and playlets for the high school assembly. In November, during Education Week, they gave two radio plays and a reading. Some members of the class took part in the Christmas program in December. They played religious characters for a musical pageant. Jantze. $ -:- Our music department has been very active this year. The glee club sang at the United Nations Day program and the Education Week presentation. A Christmas pageant was presented in December. Small groups included a triple trio and a sextette. They presented numbers at various community affairs, and the sextette sang for the Victory Queen program. These vocal groups attended the Trailway, County, and District contests. The band played at several football and all the home basketball games this year. They also participated in other school programs and led the Home¬ coming parade in October. Softball, touch football, hit pin baseball, volleyball, and basketball were the sports played throughout the year. This class helped to create better sports¬ manship as well as to develop skill in games. SPORTS GIRL—NAOMI EIGSTI Naomi Eigsti is Sports Girl of 1952. She was chosen by the girls in physical education as the one most out¬ standing in sportsmanship and athletic skill. Naomi well deserves the title of Sports Girl for she has shown top sportsmanship, not only in physical education but in all school activities. She also is an outstanding team member of all the sports in which she participated. — 28 — Naomi Eigsti The football season opened two weeks before school started when twenty- three boys reported to Coach Kuhre. There were nine returning lettermen: John Aden, Ron Eberspacher, Lorence Forst, Dick Hershberger, Norman Kuzel, Ted Schirmer, Claire Shook, Delane Welsch, and Ron Williams. Others report¬ ing were: David Barker, Darrel Eberspacher, Donald Freeman, Tom Godbey, Richard Hauder, Maurice Jantze, Dallas Kotil, Ronald Schirmer, Ray Schweitzer, Keith TeSelle, and Jack Zimmerman. The Eagles came through with a very good season of six wins out of nine starts. They lost the three games by a total of twelve points. Milford outscored their opponents 294 points to 113 points and had a total of 2,998 yards to their opponents 2,056 yards. Milford finished second in the Trailway Conference with a 5-1 record. Those from Milford receiving all conference recognition were: first team, Ted Schirmer and Delane Welsch; second team, Norman Kuzel; honorable mention, Ron Williams. The 1951 football lettermen were: John Aden, Darrel Eberspacher, Ron Eberspacher, Lorence Forst, Donald Freeman, Tom Godbey, Richard Hauder, Dick Hershberger, Maurice Jantze, Norman Kuzel, Ronald Schirmer, Ted Schir¬ mer, Ray Schweitzer, Claire Shook, Delane Welsch, and Ron Williams. Seven returning lettermen began the basketball season. They were John Aden, Ron Eberspacher, Dick Hershberger, Ted Schirmer, Bob Stutzman, Delane Welsch, and Ron Williams. The varsity completed the season with ten wins and six losses. They scored 671 points, and their opponents scored 626 points. The varsity squad received the runner-up trophy in the County Tournament and placed second in the Trailway Conference ratings. The reserves had a very successful season with thirteen wins and four losses. The reserves were Trailway Conference Class B champs and runner-up in the County Tournament.
