History Thirty-eight joyful freshmen gathered in Room 10, September 10, 1951, under the sponsor- ship of Miss Denver. We got off to a good financial start by having a very profitable St. Pat- rick's Dance and selling basketball pins as a minor activity. When we returned in September, our class had shrunk to thirty-four. We had lost Helen Baker, Frances McKean, Betty Newland, Jean Stark, Gerhard Klirnrn, and Harold Tampier. Robert Miller transferred from Beachlake and Claire Achenbach who came from Belgium joined our class. Our homeroom was shifted to Room 11 with Mr. Cramer as our sponsor. Because of our misbehavior we were not allowed to hold our dance, and our only activity for that year was a food sale. Anita Dammann received the Biology and the Home Economics prizes this year and Thomas McKean won the improvement prize. Miss Hankins welcomed us in Room 20 for our junior year. Lewis Myers and Betty Sebring left us during this year. Lewis left to get a job and Betty left to be married. Lillian Prehn joined us in November. Our conduct improved greatly when we graduated into Room 20 and we decided to buckle down and work on our activities for our Washington trip. We held a dance, supper, and Christmas card sale. This year Paul Kleinstuber received the improvement prize and the outstanding citizen award. In May of our junior year the jointure was finally completed and even though we would not be in the new school it was a major topic for discussion. Thirty-one seniors returned to Room 20 with Miss l-lankins as sponsor. Anna Kyle who had been a very capable cheerleader in her junior year decided she would rather be Mrs. Harold Cron. Claire had returned to Belgium. We made a 31033, 42 profit on our magazine sale. Sixteen of us sold over S100 worth of subscriptions and Robert Murphy was high salesman with 5262. 05. Our Halloween dance was a huge success. Again this year we sponsored a Christmas card sale and a food sale. We plan to enjoy our Washington trip leaving on June 6. We are very proud of our class. In our freshman year, Carolyn Hommel won the gold bas- ketball for girls' foul shooting in the Hawley tournament. John Stasa, Pete Herguth and Robert Murphy have been top men on our outstanding varsity basketball team. Pete Herguth as a junior won the basketball trophy for the highest percentage of foul shots in scheduled games. Paul Kleinstuber has been the able basketball and baseball manager for the past two years. Paul has also been the president of G. O. this year. Peggy Fisher has been an active cheerleader this year and Sheila Orben the scorekeeper. Bob Miller is a center fielder and John Stasa the pitcher on the baseball team. Besides our class accomplishments in sports, we have also won scholastic awards. Sheila Orben won second prize in the forestry essay in 1953. Arline Wilckens won first prize in the forestry poster contest in 1954. Patricia Myers won second prize on her forestry essay in ninth grade. As our high school years come to a close, we find six of us plan to enter college and one, nursing school. The rest of us plan to get jobs in the field of our own choosing. We have worked hard to attain our goal-and are very proud of our class. Can't you see why?
