The president ' s messages of past years have been quite poetical and artistic. Being neither a poet nor an artist, I shall say simply what I feel. Firstly, my thanks to Glen Perkins, Diane Zuk, and Lorna Tait for their able assistance on the student executive. Special thanks also go to Mr. Stevens, our sponsor, and particularly Mr. Scarrow, Mr. Meadows, and Mr. Dick for their help and advice. I ' d like to thank the student body for allowing me to gain the experience I have known as president. Over the past year we have witnessed many events and conflicts. Do you recall the indepent , the hanging of the school spirit dummy? Miles Mac was really humming. Then recall School Spirit Week, the Spring Fair the crowning of the Sweetheart Queen and the Senior Prom. Owing to the enthusiasm and support of the students, each of the above events was a tremendous success. One of the most notable characteristics of this year was the fine teacher-student relationship. Remembering the women cheerleaders and such student teacher games as the broomball game we find that our teachers were always willing to provide humor or entertainment. Thus on behalf of the entire student body, I sincerely thank the staff for their co-operation and fine sportsmanship. In conclusion, I extend my best wishes for success to each one of you. The future is ours. . . and so is its challenge. God has given us abundant opportunities to do our best, and rest assured that it will be our best that will be required. Thus, let us keep in mind an ancient Chinese proverb: Great minds have wills; feeble ones wishes. Good-bye, good luck, and God bless. Terry Edgeworth

Principal In my message to you this year I would like to review the progress made in Miles Macdonell Collegiate over the past few years. This review will cover the advances in Courses, and in student accomplishments in the field of athletics and scholarship. As everyone is aware great advancement has been made in Education throughout the province in the past few years. In this regard Miles Macdonell has been well in the forefront. Pilot courses have been given in Grade X Science and French reading. In grade XI pilot courses have been given in Physics and Chemistry. The General course has been established in Grade X, XI and XII. The students and staff have accomplished a great deal in the past year. In the field of Physical Education the girls won the Suburban Collegiate Athletic Association Championship. The boys captured the same honor in the S. C. A. A. and went on to win the Provincial Championship. Miles Macdonell placed first in the Suburban Field Day this Spring. This honor meant a great deal of effort on the part of many individuals in our collegiate. In Scholarship we have to our credit thirty-three scholarships and bursaries for 1964 and 1965. Over the past seven years students have won four first and four seconds in the Isbister Scholarship, which is the highest scholastic honor any grade XI or XII can win. Our percentage of students passing in Grade XII in June 1965 was above the provincial average in every subject, the difference varying by as much as 18%. We, of Miles Macdonell, can be justly proud of our accomplishments. May it be the avowed intention of every student to add to this enviable record in all fields of endeavour. My congratulations go to the students and teachers who have worked so hard to make this yearbook the success it most certainly is. I also extend to all graduates for this year my heartiest congratulations and best wishes. J. E. SCARROW, B. A., B. Ed. Principal. 2

As editors, it is our aim to present to the student body a remem¬ brance of high school years. This we hope to achieve through the pro¬ duction of a yearbook. In years to come, one will be able to look back, to laugh, to reminisce. Such phrases as Remember when. ... and Joe hasn ' t changed at all! will naturally come to mind. Many people do not realize how many long hours of hard work go into the production of this annual. For their valuable assistance, we wish to thank the faithful members of the staff who regularly came out to meetings to face piles of pictures, write-ups, and sticky glue. We owe our appreciation to Mr. W. Szutiak for his valuable suggestions and advice. Special thanks are extended to Mr. Meadows for taking pictures, to Peggy McCaffrey for drawing numerous cartoons, and to Carol Nordman for a great deal of last-minute typing. We hope that you will always enjoy your 1966 Macadonian. Cathy Chivers, Editor Pat Paige, Assistant Editor 4
