Principal In my message to you this year I would like to review the progress made in Miles Macdonell Collegiate over the past few years. This review will cover the advances in Courses, and in student accomplishments in the field of athletics and scholarship. As everyone is aware great advancement has been made in Education throughout the province in the past few years. In this regard Miles Macdonell has been well in the forefront. Pilot courses have been given in Grade X Science and French reading. In grade XI pilot courses have been given in Physics and Chemistry. The General course has been established in Grade X, XI and XII. The students and staff have accomplished a great deal in the past year. In the field of Physical Education the girls won the Suburban Collegiate Athletic Association Championship. The boys captured the same honor in the S. C. A. A. and went on to win the Provincial Championship. Miles Macdonell placed first in the Suburban Field Day this Spring. This honor meant a great deal of effort on the part of many individuals in our collegiate. In Scholarship we have to our credit thirty-three scholarships and bursaries for 1964 and 1965. Over the past seven years students have won four first and four seconds in the Isbister Scholarship, which is the highest scholastic honor any grade XI or XII can win. Our percentage of students passing in Grade XII in June 1965 was above the provincial average in every subject, the difference varying by as much as 18%. We, of Miles Macdonell, can be justly proud of our accomplishments. May it be the avowed intention of every student to add to this enviable record in all fields of endeavour. My congratulations go to the students and teachers who have worked so hard to make this yearbook the success it most certainly is.
