The Chess Club had eighteen members this year. Meetings were held every Wednesday noon. Myron Hlynka ended up atop the standings with 30 out of 34 possible points. Runners-up were Stuart Juzda, Jim Johnson, Bob Leeson, Jim Slivinski. The winner of the Round Robin tournament was Myron Hlynka. The Chess Club team competed in the Manitoba High School Chess Tournament. Competing members were Stuart Juzda, Myron Hlynka, Les Johnson, and Jim Slivinski. This year ' s Echo, under the capable guidance of Hugh Stephens, Editor in Chief, has een bigger and better than ever before. It was enhanced by a number of new Editions - colored heading, displaying our proud green and gold, an exciting cross-word puzzle, nd a Suggest-a-poll which allowed students to express their opinions on controversial ssues around the school being just a few. Free Echos to classes obtaining perfect sales and Penny-May-Days when a paper was avaliable for a penny were other new features begun. Many people helped make the paper a success this year. Our sincere appreciation goes to Miss Newton, our teacher sponsor, for the help she has given us this past year. The Newspaper Staff was aided by the Art Committee which set the news articles, designed headings, and made cartoons.
