SEATED, LEFT TO RIGHT: Grant Lemon, Dana Stewart Mr. R. J. Wilson. M.U.N.A. M. U. N. A. is the popular name of the Model United Nations Assem¬ bly. It is an unusually successful combination of youth service project and of an international service project, organized by the Rotary Club of Winnipeg, Canada. M. U. N. A. is what the title suggests - an attempt to reproduce the United Nations itself - in a locale far from its headquarters in New York. Each nation that holds membership in the U. N. is represented by a pair of Grade XII high school students. These students are selected, spon¬ sored, and sent to Winnipeg by Rotary Clubs in cities and towns in the Northern United States, Western Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba in Canada. This year Miles MacDonell ' s delegates to M. U. N. A. held April 19 and 20 at Grant Park High School, were Dana Stewart and Grant Lemon. Dana and Grant, counselled by Mr. R. J. Wilson, represented the Con¬ troversial Country of Syria, a member of the Asian bloc. The assembly, highlighted by various walkouts, the first being led by our Syrian delegates, and many protests, was concluded by a formal banquet and dance at the Royal Alexandra Hotel where all the Delegates and their counsellors had the honour of being addressed by His Excellency Micheal Comar, Israeli Ambassador to Canada. 89
