The French Club originated this year under the guidance and enthusiasm of Mr. Best. Meetings, conducted in French, were held every Activity period. The year ' s programming included; two French films, singing O ' Canada in French, visits from members of the French Council, French rock n ' roll sessions, among other Act¬ ivities. All the members enjoyed belonging to the club and we hope that it will be active in future years. The club ' s Executive was Randie Kushnier - President, Treasure Fraser - Secretary-Treasurer. Mr. P. Under the excellent direction of Miss S. McCann, the Miles MacDonell Glee Club experienced another successful year. Besides partaking in the school ' s Rememberance Day Service, the choir did a medley of Negro songs in the Variety Concert. The club encountered a cold night when it went out Christmas carolling. The hot refreshments were well appreciated. Thanks to all the teachers who gave up their evening to help us. The club ' s executives were: President - Doug McLean, Vice-President - Ben Waa- genaar, Secretary-Treasurer - Mary-Ellen Grieve. Many thanks to Miss McCann who so ably led us, the competent executive, and all members who supported the Glee Club regularly this year. SEATED: John Harper, Gail Stephens, Richard Deeley, STANDING: Jim Hull, Wayne Eliuk, Richard Sallee, Hugh Stephens. SCHOOL SPIRIT COMMITTEE The School Spirit Commit¬ tee which is new at Miles Mac strove to increase school spirit by organizing pep rallys, and selling beanies. They also purchased an Honor Roll of Student Council Executives. The committee also offered numerous suggestions for pro¬ moting school enthusiasm in future years. It is hoped that in the years to come the committee will have a student body to work with which will be as co-operative and enthusiastic as the Students of the 1962-63 year have been. 97

2IENCE CLUB The club ' s ecutive for ie 1962-63 ear was: Pre- Ldent-Brian hompson, Jim tadnick-Vice- ’resident, Jean ' irciew-Secre- ary- Treasurer. Meetings ere held twice month and ilms and peeches were the highlights. Among the activities of the SEATED: Diane Shaver, Dawn Lucas, Brian Thompson, Henry Reimer, Jim Smerek, Jean Birciew, Doug Geisel. MIDDLE ROW: Jim Slivinski, Jim Stadnick, Bill Price, Les Persnicke, Ed Kroeger, Brian Rudolph, Allan Stone. BACK ROW: Steve Zabarylo, Walter Wakula, Bob Tibbs, John Kaye, Robert Turzyn, Jon Glowa, Lawrence Borysyk. club were: put on a display for the Variety Concert, and entered projects in two Science Fairs. Ed Kroeger and Jim Stadnick won first prize for Rocketry at the East Kildonan Science Fair. John Kaye re- cevied first prize for his AMFM receiver. Steve Zabarylo and Brian Thompson won second prize for their digital computer in the East Kildonan Science Fair. The same digital computer also won first prize in the Department of Mathematics at the Manitoba Science Fair. Bill Price won first prize for his insect collection at the East Kildonan Science Fair and Third Prize in Biology at the Manitoba Fair. The first prize in the Field Project was awarded to Jim Stadnick and Ed Kroeger for their Rocketry Work. Thanks to Mr. Heubner and Mr. Buller, teacher Sponsors, for their assistance in making the Science Club a success.
