PIONEER CLUB The letters I. S. C. F. stand for Inter-School Chris¬ tian Fellowship. Al¬ though this is only the second year for the club in our school, it is an international organization which originated in England, Meetings were held every Thursday after four with many informative and re¬ vealing Bible studies and interesting speakers. Prayer meetings were begun halfway through the year which were held every Tuesday after four. The club had about twenty mem¬ bers. We would like to thank our club sponsors, Mr. P. Brown and Mr. H. Dick for their support. The Christian fellowship provided by this club has been to us and will be to others a wonderful and unique experience. FIRST ROW: Sandra Johnson, Helen Johnston, Sharon Baerg, June Hunter, Secretary; Donald Brown, President; Marilyn Gordon, Vice-President; Patsy Gutkneckt, Lynne Hawke, Tamira Friesen. SECOND ROW: Mr. Brown, Sponsor; Beverly Baitson, Lynda Powell, Werner Krahn, Edwin Kroeger, Nancy Gutkneckt, Julie Bergner, Mr. H. Dick, Co-Sponsor. truly MUNA The Model United Nations Assembly has been sponsored by the Winnipeg Rotary Club for the past six years. The purpose of this assembly is to allow high school students to acquire a better understanding of the countries of the world situation. Each year pairs of delegates from high schools in Wisconsin, Michigan, Northwestern Ontario, Minnesota, North Dakota, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba come to Winnipeg to represent all the nations belonging to the United Nations. In the Mr. Wilson, Carole Findlay, Scott Stewart, weeks before the assembly is held, the delegates spend their time learning all they can about the country they will represent, for their speeches must put forth the ideas and opinions of the in¬ dividual countries rather than those of the stu¬ dents. This year Miles Macdonell ' s delegates to M. U. N. A. , held April 27 and 28 at Grant Park High School, were Carole Findlay and Scott Stewart. Carole and Scott, counselled by history teacher Mr. R. J. Wilson, represented the tiny country of Nepal, a member of the Asian bloc. The assembly itself was highlighted by vari¬ ous walkouts and protests, the most striking being a group of students who entered the as¬ sembly to represent the Separatist Movement of Quebec. The assembly was brought to an end by a formal banquet at the Royal Alexandra Hotel where all the delegates and counsellors had the honour of being addressed by His Excellency Taha Carim, Turkish Ambassador to Canada.

Under the teacher sponsorship of Miss Newton and Mr. Michalchuk the first edition of the Miles Mac Echo come out just before the Christmas exams. The edition to follow was something new for M. M. C. It was a one page edition called the Little Echo. This was to come out every day at 3 except the last one in each month. On that day a large regular edition was put out. In all, three big and four small editions were put out this term. Despite the difficulties p s in meeting deadlines, it could be considered a fairly . ' x successful year for the M. M. C. Echo.

CHESS CLUB FIRST ROW: Felix Bileski, John Hutton, Joyce-Mary Craven, Lawrence Crone. SECOND ROW: Rick Low man, Allan Hoffman, Gordon Barnes, R. Rainer Hempel, Mr. H. Dick. ORATORICAL CLl B The Oratorical Club was formed with the aim of giving each student interested in pub¬ lic speaking a chance to practise before others. The club ' s first project was the sending a delegate to the district finals of the Manitoba School Trustee ' s Association public speak¬ ing contest. Our delegate was Bruce Jackson who placed second. The club inaugurated a type of radio at Miles Mac. The programming was to give a fair sprinkling of music, schc 1 club and sports news, as well as occasional special features. On the whole we felt that M. M. C. R. was quite successful. CJOB gave the club a tour of their radio station. The club held debates and the members not only debated, but also chaired the debates and did the judging. Mrs. Vensel and Mrs. Lee were the teacher judges. The club also taped the play, Pete Goes Home, for the Grade X Literature classes. It was our responsibility tc provide announcers and technicians for the ' stage shows ' of Kaleidoscope and this we did successfully. Later in the year a public speaking course was given to the club by Hugh Stephens who had taken the course at a conference in Brandon. We owe a tremendous vote of thanks to our teacher sponsor, Mrs. Lee, for her guidance and training. FIRST ROW: Linda Walker, Sco:.t Stewart, Vice- President; Wayne Eliuk, President; Elizabeth Johnston, Secretary-Treas¬ urer; Carol Kornek. SECOND ROW: Don Hunter, Hugh Stephens, Michael Dunbar, Fran Negrych, Bruce Jackson.
