Teas, operettas, and va¬ riety concerts are usual annual productions at most Winnipeg collegiates and Miles Mac - donell is no exception. This year, however, M. M. C. students and staff in¬ troduced a new idea, at least for this area. It was based on the theme Horizons Unlimited and combined all three types of productions into one major ex¬ travaganza known simply as Kaleidoscope. The result was an extreme¬ ly fresh approach in which in¬ dividual talent, group displays, choral arrangements, and re¬ freshments were organized in¬ to a fast moving variety of en¬ tertainment guaranteed to sat¬ isfy the most discerning tea- drinker. There was at least one real booster of Kaleidoscope - Bonnie McCallum. Bonnie won a school club bag in a name the production contest open to all students at M. M. C. The big day was March 7. Some 3000 invitations were sent out. A tiny-tot playroom was supervised for the convenience of parents with baby-sitting problems. Kaleidoscope was the cli¬ max of several hard weeks of preparation for large groups such as the Glee Club which sang selections from The King and I. Many photographic techniques were demonstrated by the Camera Club and stimu¬ lating projects were put on by the Science Club. Soloists, Highland dancers, the school orchestra, and in¬ dividuals playing the accordion, guitar, piano, and trumpet were performing on stage at regular intervals announced over the PA system by members of the Oratorical Club.
