The Student Council of Miles Macdonell offers the students many activities in which they can participate. The objectives of this organization are to provide opportunities to practice active demo¬ cratic living outside of school hours; to provide opportunities for the discovery of special qualities and abilities; to stimulate student interest in the school and to help to develop school morale and spirit. The Student Council sponsors many of the student activities. The highlights of these for 1961-62 are: dances including the very successful Freshie Dance and the Sweetheart Swirl, basketball games, purchasing cheerleader uniforms, organization of the Glee Club, Science Club, Yearbook and Newspaper Staff, and of course Kaleidoscope and Closing Ex¬ ercises which are not likely to be soon forgotten. We ' ll also long remember those Tuesday noon hour meetings. The President Dennis Martin and Secretary Bev Edwards together organized the smoothly functioned meetings. The fellowship of the meetings helped to give the students valuable lessons in running a democratic organization.
