Mr. Erichson's helpfulness beyond the call of duty will be remembered by students and faculty alike. He was always present at school functions, stay- ing until the end to handle the hundred and one chores that arose. Each day he usually was the first to arrive and the last to leave, fulfilling his duties as our custodian. We, the Senior Class, do will to Mr. Buck, all the left over money from the class treasury. We've heard rumors that you are looking for a fast buck. We, the Senior Class, do will to Jim Wosaba, the bus mechanic, a left handed monkey wrench in case he is suddenly in need of one. We hope he can find use for it. I, Gloria Marshall, do will to Mary Frank, my ability to break the valve cords on my French horn, usually during a concert. I, Phyllis Miller, do will to Ardel Belk, the sparkle in my blue eyes. It'l1 work in your brown ones too, Toots . I, Darrell Mohr, do will to Rosa Harmon, all of the A's I have received in high school. D01'1't be too eager,Rosa, there aren't many. I, Larry Ockelmann, do will to Deloris Boehde, my left over effort which I should have used in school. Be sure to use it! I, Elmer Paetow, do will to Werner Paulsen, the two blue lights on the front of my Plymouth for his Chevey truck. They make dandy parking lights, Werner. I, Emmett Peters, do will to Paul Carstensen, my ability to get into trouble and back out again before being confronted with a teacher. I, Norman Petersen, do will to Allen Petersen, my ability to goof while playing cymbals in band. Allen, I hope you are musically inclined. I ain't I ! ! I ! ! ! I, Roland Petersen, do will to Carole Smith, my quiet personality and my habit of not getting excited over unusual happenings. 33 I, Darlene Ragis, do will to Sharon Meyer, all my excess energy. I know you don't need it but in case you are low on energy someday you may call on me. I., Lorraine Rohwedder, do will tO Carol Greve, my glasses and my ability to lose them while playing basketball. They provide for a good rest period, Carol. I, Wilfred Smithson, do will to Henry Gray, my basketball ability . Whether you use it or not the girls will still like you, Hank. I, Shirley Thompson, do will to Karen Naeve, all my knowledge in bookkeeping. Don't be too thrilled,iKaren, it's not the least bit exciting. 34 ILIPM On August 30, 1943, with pigtails flying and cowlicks refusing to be brushed down, we toddled off to first grade. Our teacher, Miss Janice Wosoba, and 22 pupils attended. They were: Linda Caven, Lorraine Fletcher, Nannette Frahm, Betty Gray, Shirley Hansen, Judith Horst, Margaret Isgrig, Janice Ketelsen, Sylvia Passig, Lorraine Roh- wedder, Shirley Thompson, Madge Wink, Jack Adney, William Chamberlain, Larry Clausen, Paul Dague, Eugene Fergusen, Wayne Jungjohann, Virgil Koch, Darrell Traey, Dwight Wilkinson, and George Kyarsgaard. During the school year Shirley Hansen, and Eugene Fergusen dropped by transfer, leaving the class of 20 to move on to second grade The next year brought us a new teacher, Miss Evelyn Swedensky, and six new pupils who were: Tooney Thedore, James Gillogly, Marjorie Jamison, Nancy Jamison, Merwin Koch, and Janet Holtzman. The pupils who moved by transfer during the year were: Linda Caven, Janice Ketelsen, Sylvia Passig, and Tooney Theodore. In the third grade our teacher was Miss Marlys Stahnke. Paul Dague, James Gillogly, and Dwight Wilkinson dropped by transfer. Natalie Hart, Roland Petersen, and Jeanette Marsh added to our class enrollment. 35 In the fourth grade Miss Marlys Stahnke was our teacher for the second year. Paula Hart and Doris Jess were the new pupils added to .our class and Roland Petersen dropped by transfer. In fifth grade our teacher was Miss lla Rogers. Our class increased from 16 to 31. The students who entered this year were: Gene Dynes, James Dynes, Russell Eggers, Richard Hansen, Robert Hansen, Cora Harmon, Mary Harmsen, David Johnson, Kath- leen Kelley, Joan Kyarsgaard, Larry Lehmkuhl, Phyllis Miller, Larry Ockelmann, Larry Paulsen, Emmett Peters, Norman Peter sen, Marilyn Schave,and Raymond Berg. ln sixth grade we moved to the third floor. Our teacher was Miss Dorothy Rehr. We lost David Johnson, This year we attended John L. Franks opening day. In seventh grade our teachers were Mr. Richard Lantz and Miss Dorothy Waters. We lost one student who was Harlan Hass. This year we had a Junior High Basketball team for boys and girls. In eighth our teacher was Mr. Richard Lantz. We lost Joan Kyarsgaard and gained Wilfred Smithson and Roland Petersen. This year the girls won the Jackson County Junior High Tournament in basketball. The boys placed second. To start our fir st year of high school we had Freshman Initiation which was fun and exciting and helped us to make many new friends. New members were Darlene Ragis, Rod Dunlap, Doris Behn, ,Darrell Mohr, Evelyn Baker, Elmer Paetow, Dale Branden- burg, Edward Brunning, Larry Eggers, Shirley Kunau, Michael Lennon, Gloria Marshall, Verna Milder, Beverly Petersen, and John Wagemester. Albert Holms joined our class during the second semester. Our class sponsor was Mr. William Price. 36 In tenth grade our class sponsor was Mrs. Majorie Crossett. Bob Culver was the only new member and Paula Hart did not return in the fall. In eleventh grade our class sponsors were Miss Mary Ladd and Miss Alyce Houston. Students who didn't return were Dale Brandenburg, Verna Milder, Larry Lehmkuhl, Beverly Petersen, and John Wagemester. This year we had a Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom on April 28. The theme was Hawaiian Cruise . In the twelth year Richard and Robert Hansen dropped out of school during the fir st semester. Bob Cluver did not return in the fall. Emma Jean Godard added to our class enrollment. Class sponsors were Mr. Robert Rasmussen and Mr, Pedar Buck, As you have read our class history only seven students have gone all 12 years at Miles Consolidated School.
