Never Say Die! The overall dedication and perseverance of the twenty-eight boys who began two-a-day football workouts back in August helped them to a 3-7 record this year, and typified the pride that each one took in being a part of the Bulldog football program. After opening the season with two thrilling upset wins over Robert Lee and Bronte the Bulldogs fell to a very tough squad from Sterling City. However, the boys rebounded to overpower Loraine but they were not as fortunate against Roby in the Homecoming game and they went into district play with a 3-2 record. The Bulldogs' victory path was not to be found again though as they lost successively to Wall, Stanton, McCamey, Reagan County, and Eldorado. The tough losses in district were not without some bright spots though, as many young sophomores and freshmen were thrust into starting roles and they performed ad- mirably. The injuries that were sustained have healed by now and each one of the Bulldogs on the 1982 team can look back with a sense of pride and accomplishment. One person, Greg Schwertner, was honored on the all-district team as a unanimous pick at offensive guard. Through their own continued efforts and the valuable experience learned from last year the Bulldogs should be successful again in the 1983 campaign. Coach Nat Sawyer Last Spring, the boys began looking forward to the 1982-1983 season. The 1982 season was filled with many injuries. August. . . the beginning IH
