What a glory to compete in the State Finals for the second consecutive year!! It was a frustrating season of discouragement and joy, but it resulted in some of the most exciting events in Bulldog Volleyball history! My Wish to the graduating seniors is that you retain a love and interest in this lifetime sport. You have competed so strongly over the past 4 years, compiling a 4-year record of 90-37, 4 year Freshmen learn the 1'0P'-95 Regional Qualifiers Finalists, 2 years State Finalists. You have built a program and establish- ed a legacy of winning that younger players will be challenged to achieve. You will be deeply miss- ed, but remembered with great pride and as ex- cellent examples for years to come. Achieving State Runners-Up in both Class A 8: AA, sporting a record of 62-12, and placing two on the All-State Team is an unbelievable record for a two-year time. My deepest thanks to Captain Dee Ann Cop- pinger for a flawless leadership job. Freeze Frame!!! 7th graders discover a whole new game! up . Never Say Die! The overall dedication and perseverance of the twenty-eight boys who began two-a-day football workouts back in August helped them to a 3-7 record this year, and typified the pride that each one took in being a part of the Bulldog football program. After opening the season with two thrilling upset wins over Robert Lee and Bronte the Bulldogs fell to a very tough squad from Sterling City. However, the boys rebounded to overpower Loraine but they were not as fortunate against Roby in the Homecoming game and they went into district play with a 3-2 record. The Bulldogs' victory path was not to be found again though as they lost successively to Wall, Stanton, McCamey, Reagan County, and Eldorado. The tough losses in district were not without some bright spots though, as many young sophomores and freshmen were thrust into starting roles and they performed ad- mirably. The injuries that were sustained have healed by now and each one of the Bulldogs on the 1982 team can look back with a sense of pride and accomplishment. One person, Greg Schwertner, was honored on the all-district team as a unanimous pick at offensive guard. Through their own continued efforts and the valuable experience learned from last year the Bulldogs should be successful again in the 1983 campaign. Coach Nat Sawyer Last Spring, the boys began looking forward to the 1982-1983 season. The 1982 season was filled with many injuries.
