November 22, the Eagles played Italy on the Tiger field at Corsicana. This was the district game and was a very hard fought one. Neither of these two teams had been defeated during the season of 1940. The Eagles lost this game to Italy by a score of 18 to 0. The Eagles never gave up until the whistle blew for the end of the game. There was a nice crowd that attended the game and the school was not ashamed of their boys for losing, for every one did his best. The Eagles won 9 out of 10 games. The cap' tains of the team were johnny Sirman and Harold Garland. The following boys received sweater awards: Fendley Bene- field, Alden Wilcox, Alon Gaines, Harold Garland, David Burnett, Derwood Gaines, Harold Franklin, John Treadwell, J. C.
