Government Day Encourages Student Jnvolvement Once again, the seniors coverged upon the city government in the annual American Legion sponsored Student Government Day. For elec- tion purposes the class was divided into two parties, four wards, and five districts. The Popu- lists elected Larry Pribyl party chairman, while the Grange Party chose Kevin Randall. Under their leadership platforms were perfected and a vigorous campaign was staged. Populist, Mike Peden, defeated Ed Koc for the mayor's seat. On Monday evening, April 5, the city offi- cials visited the town council. The following Tuesday morning found each elected or appoint- ed student observing his respective office. The participates agreed the day was worthwhile. They discovered that the processes of govern- ment are much more involved than most people expect. The climax of Student Government Day was the banquet, served in the American Legion Clubroom, Tuesday evening. Government Day posters decorate study hall wall. Populist party chairman Larry Pribyl. Mayor Mike Peden. Betty Grams, County Treasurer with populist Corliss Perdaems. 29 Grange party chairman Kevin Randall.
