SOWERS OF THE FIELD Kansas City Boys, David Hammer and Ralph Schmidt THE GREEN THUMB FARMERS The Future Farmers of America organization of Milbank High School had a very busy year. Under the leadership of their adviser, Mr. White, they completed many in- teresting and worth-while projects. Some of these were the selling of magazines subscriptions and running the concession stand at the football games. One of their most important activities was the annual Parents and Sons Barbecue over which President Larry Englund presided. At this time. Sweetheart Linda Nelson was chosen with Evelyn Falk and Sandra Nelson as other candi- dates for this title. They also assisted the F. H. A. in presenting the annual Sweetheart Ball in February. The Vocal Music Department, under the direction of Mr. Colberg, consists of the Girl's Glee Club—with 33 members, the Boy's Glee Club—with 20 members, and the Mixed Chorus—with 68 members. The entire Vocal Department participated in the Christmas Concert. The theme was Christmas in Mil- bank. A joint program was presented by both Webster's and Milbank's choral groups. It was presented twice— at Webster on February 19, and then at Milbank on February 26. The Pops Concert presented on April 23, through the combined efforts of the Vocal and Instrumental Department, was an unquestionable success. All of these concerts were enthusiastically accepted by the many concert-goers in this area. 17

LEARNING TO SETA TRAINING TABLE HOME EC. GIRLS ENTERTAINING The Future Homemakers of America was a very active club throughout the 1962-63 school year. The club sent delegates to the State Convention at Huron and the Regional Meeting at DeSmet. They sponsored the annual Sweetheart Ball and at the Ball, they chose David Hammer as Beau and Kenneth For- man as Prince. A very worth-while project was added to their ac- tivities this year. The FHA bought records for the St. Williams Home as a Christmas gift. Under the leadership of senior Arloa Barlage as president, with Miss Ellis as their adviser, the club had a very busy year.
