The class of 55 :ls abdicating its throne at Milan High to nnke way for a new line of rulers. As I look back on the four years of court life, I can remember many things. - In September of 1951 the Class of 55 entered the scene as mere squires. Our advisors who guided us through our first year were Miss Kiefer and Ib. Jones. The class chose five officers to lead itg Marge Tomecek, President 3 Ed Keilman, Vice-President, Katherine Burlingame, Secretary, Gary Craig, Treasurer, and M.J. Martin, Student Council Representative. As we were busy getting acquainted with our new life, we had Just a few social activities. We began with the Freshmn Reception in September which was a good chance to meet all the teachers and our classuates. Another activity was a box social on April 2h in which Mr. Jones was the auctioneer. Money-making projects included a scrap and paper drive, and dances. Our first happy year ended with a picnic at Kensington Park. When September 1952 rolled around we found ourselves promoted to dukes. Miss Green and Mr. Helton were our advisors. We chose our class officers: Elgin Darling, President 3 Ed Keilman, Vice-President, Virginia Schultz, Secretary, Dolores Grace, Treasurer: and Tony Hurbis, Student Council Representative. Our social events included a class Christmas party. Refreshments were served and a talent show was held. Silly gifts were exchanged in a grab bag and everyone seemed to enjoy himself. For a money-making proJect the class sold belts during the basketball season. As spring approached our thoughts turned to those of Hemio. We went through the initiation in the latter part of April feeling and looking very silly. The class of 55 wanted to leave a historical event behind so we tied the hemio games for the first time in the many years that they had been played. In the evening a forml dance was held with The Big Top as its theme. As September 1953 approached, we looked forward to becoming princes Mrs Freatman and Mr Busch were our advisors The class officers were Shirley Grace, Secretary, Ed Keilnnn, President, Alvin Hosler, Vice President, Joan Sclmenk, Treasurer, and Joey Bidwell, Student Cozmcil Representative Being princes brought about more social functions The first main function was the Junior Play, 'Meet Me In St Louis, on April 3 The other money making project was selling popcorn at the football games On May 28 the annual Jun1orqSenior Reception was held The theme was 'The Theater with large paper ma.che comedy and tragedy nasks in the center While the seniors were away on their trip our class ended the social events for the year with a day at Greenfield Village, and the Edison Museum In September 19514 we became the rulers at Milan High and have spent our last year as kings Mr Drevdahl and Mr Lehker have been our worthy advisors Our officers were Tony Hurbis, President, Ed Keilxmn, Vice President, Marilyn Loveland, Secretary, Joyce Dunn, Treasurer, and Mary Hanley, Student Commcil Representative This year was our busiest year On November lla- we presented the senior play, Papa was A Preacher for a record crowd In order to enlarge the treasury we sgld magazines and wreaths and had a concession at the football and basketball games In November the government class participated in the County Government day On May 27 the Junior-Senior Reception was held The Senior trip was the main event of the year It was a five-day trip to New York and Washington D C , whichbegan onbhy 30 Onthe dayofourreturnwe had swing outandthe award assembly On Sunday evening, June 5, we had baccalaureate services Reverend Hunt of the Baptist Church delivered the message with several of our local ministers participating This :ls our commencement day This evening Dr Howard Jones from the School of Education of the University of Michigan will speak to us This will be the 1a.st time we will all be together We will receive our diplomas and each go our own my Signed by Big Red, Court Scribe U 0 0 a 2 O O 1 U . The pro- ceeds went towards our Senior trip, which is not too far away. The 17th of February was the Junior Talent Show. We were assisted by our sponsors, M . Heimburger and M s. Freatman. Much talent was presented and the Junior class is really proud of those who took part in the show. Then came the Junior Play, Men Are Like Streetcars. The play was very successful and all the boys and girls really work- ed hard to make it so. One of the most exciting events of the year was the Junior- Senior Reception. Fun was had by everyone. These are the high lights of the Junior class of l95k-55. But we'll be back again next year with new plans and ideas. OUKES Row C15 P. Elliott, P. Jones, K. Scott, J. Hanson, M. Schultz, M.
