M1laca's Ind1ans after a slow start f1n1shed the1r regular season w1th a 10 9 won lost record In the openmg game of the d1str1ct tournament they were knocked off by Braham 70 64 The Ind1ans lost the1r open1ng game of the season to Foley by 66 50 1 other games before Chrlstmas they p1cked up wms over Onam1a and Mora but lost to Anoka and Prmceton Followlng a wm over Osseo the Indxans lost three stra1ght Followxng these losses the Ind1ans won f1ve ma row for the1r longest w1nn1ng streak of the year H1gh11ghts of thls str1ng were wlns over Braham and Prmceton The Braham game was a real thrlller Wlth a last second shot by Lundstrom wmnmg the ball game 61 60 After the w1nn1ng streak the Ind1ans sl1pped down aga1n w1nn1ng two whlle los1ng three for the1r 10 9 fmal mark Then came the tournament loss to Bra ham to w1nd up the season Thls year's team was made up of three sen1ors seven Junlors and two sophomores The sen1ors were Bob Rxchardson Bob Stewart and Carl Hgort Junmors on the squad were Les Mateffy Allxe Marudas Dave Lundstrom Jerry Swanson N1ck Bystrom Gene Anderson and Paul Larson These boys w11l be returmng next year along w1th the now sophomores Lee Kragt and Dallas Apol Bob Rlchardson and Bob Stewart were chosen co captams They also re ce1ved two other honors Rxch was selected to the All D1str1ct team and Stu to the A11 Conference team The team w1ll m1ss Stewart the team's best rebounder and R1chardson the lead1ng scorer w1th the season's total of 212 po1nts But w1th n1ne lettermen returmng along w1th some boys from the 'B' squad the Ind1ans should put a fa1rly tough team on the floor next year Above and left are acuon shots taken from the Cam bndge Mllaca game 63 I 1 ' ' 0 ' u 1 . . . . . . - . s ' n r , - . - I 1 . , , . 1 1 1 1 9 1 0 - ' - . - ' 1 1 1 1 . 9 1 .

In a few years, track should be a favorite and greatly improved sport at Milaca. 64
