A.n important part of the band's work is to contribute pep and entertainment at our basket- ball and football games as well as adding zip to our pepfests. The band also pre- sents many concerts during the year as well as being a snappy 3' 4' marching unit. Many cf. small ensembles have risen up amongst the ' ' di, members. These groups are often awarded high ratings for their fine performances. at W 4, J, 1953 Homecomlng Homecommg fCSt1V1t1CS got off to a good start Thursday mght w1th a bonf1re and pepfest at the athletxc f1eld,followed by a snake dance wh1ch made 1ts way through the bus1ness d1str1ct and ended w1th another pep fest downtown The second day s act1v1t1es were another pepfest and a Hornecommg sk1t Mary Swanson was then crowned 1953 Homecorrnng queen by Co Captam Bob Stewart Her four attendants were Joan Kuether, Cordel1a Rhoda Lo1s Johnson, and Myrna Van Dalen .hmmy Norcross acted as The Homecom1ng parade unmedxately followed the coronat1on The band 1n thelr colorful Ind1an headdresses led the parade followed by the queen and her attendants, and floats of var1ous classes and orgamzatxons The pr1ze wmnmg float was made by the Jumor class, on wh1ch the cheerleaders rode H1ghl1ght of the day was the football game between M1laca and Cam br1dge when the M1laca Ind1ans l1ved up to the Homecommg slogan Conquer Cambmdg Fest1v1t1es were brought to a glorlous chmax w1th a dance at the armory It off1c1ally started when queen Mary danced the f1rst dance w1th mus1c prov1ded by the St Cloud college orchestra thus clos1ng a successful 1953 Homecommg 53 - I I ff , ' T I L, V! , . . . . , . . . crown bearer for the occasion.
