Senlor Sketches Q3 xJX '-f .f '- T-J When the doors of MHS opened rn the fall of 1950 1n rushed 133 eager l1tt1e Ind1ans 1n the1r search of educatxon At our f1rst pow wow Lloyd Olson was elected chlef Bob Stewart v1ce presxdent Russell K1ng sec retary and Harlan Hanenberg treasurer To lead us 1n our war crys we chose Lols Johnson Evelyn Bjurman Mary Swanson and Carole Stowers as B team cheerleaders We too attempted to 'Keep the Bombers Grounded w1th our Homecomlng float We adorned our float w1th threelovely squaws Helen Utsch1nsk1 queen Mary Swanson and Mar1an Resenbr1nk attendants The braves carrled the class vote entlrely 1n the sophomore class elect1on w1th the except1on of one malden on the executlve staff PICSI dent Bob Stewart v1ce pres1dent Lloyd Olson secretary Clara Blom qu1st and Truman Bu1sman treasurer We presented the second S W A K N1ght 1n wh1ch we dooned war pa1nt of a d1fferent color Ne were transformed from Ind1ans to Negro m1nstrels 1n our huge var1ety show Mary Swanson was our add1t1on to the 'A' squad cheerleaders As we canoed along xnto our Jumor year Lloyd Olson was elected presxdent Roger Olson v1ce pres1dent Joan Kuether secretary and Truman Bu1sman treasurer Our f1rst b1g event was the Jun1or class play Fa1th Hope and Flar 1 y Remember Denn1s Danger as the red ha1red Flar1ty and the rav 1Sh1Hg Crabbe tw1ns portrayed by Carole Stowers and Elleen H1FSCh9 Beh1nd those Englxsh accents were Don Asp and N1ck Karras When May rolled around we converted the school audxtorxum 1nto Dreamland' Fluffy clouds a sta1rway to the stars and a dreamy at mosphere made up our happy hunt1ng grounds S1x were placed on the Nat1onal Honor Socxety th1s year they were Darlene Lemmon Margaret Smlth Clara Blomqu1st Roger Olson Denn1s Danger and Don Asp E1leen Hlrsch and Don Asp were chosen as representatlves to G1rls and Boys State Heap b1g chlef of our senlor class was Denn1s Danger Other offlcers 1n h1s tr1be were R1chard W1l ken v1ce presldent Joan Kuether secretary and Merle DeBoer treas urer 23 'Xl' Ii ffl.
