Foreword This volume Of the Nautilus has been prepared especially for the Class of 1956 and posterity. Herein we present our ideas, desires. ambitions. and loves to you, Growing up in a world of uncertainty, mankind has been struggling to lift his social order onto a higher plane of existence. Our pathways are our own. As have the others before us. we wish to leave to those that follow us. our experiences, for experience is the hope of the individual and mankind. Thus we have prepared this book with the idea that the inspiration that grew with us glows throughout the book, and that these pages will be a constant reminder to us of our duty to God, our fellow man. and ourselves.

Deflication - - - On lanuary 31, 1928, in Yeagerstown, Pennsylvania. a lioy was horn who was to influence the seniors of lV1ifflinhurg loint lunior-Senior Hiqli S:hoo1 in the year, 1056. ln the years to follow he received his education at Derry Town- ship 1'ligh School located in Yeagerstoxvn, Pennsylvania. and at Lock Haven State '1't-Jesuit-is College. His education was interrupted with three years service in the United States Army. ln 1052 he came to lV1ifflinhurg and during this period he has lween kept husy attending Bucknell University acquiring a masterls degree in administration. We recognize collectively and individually the service he has rendered to our school and in a very large degree, our class. His classroom approach and his personality have made it desirable to dedicate this issue of our annual. The Nautilrzs, to 1V1r. Robert lf. 17ctcr.a. We feel that it is appropriate to state here the philosophy of the teaching of Mr. Peters. ln part he writes. 1 feel that education should he a learning experience for the student, It should be pleasant and constructive. The aim of education is to prepare the student to take his place in society. Education should help in the maturation process of those involved.
