Herein we present our ideas, desires. ambitions. and loves to you, Growing up in a world of uncertainty, mankind has been struggling to lift his social order onto a higher plane of existence. Our pathways are our own. As have the others before us. we wish to leave to those that follow us. our experiences, for experience is the hope of the individual and mankind. Thus we have prepared this book with the idea that the inspiration that grew with us glows throughout the book, and that these pages will be a constant reminder to us of our duty to God, our fellow man. and ourselves. Such tasks are: xvofking at the desk. shelving of books. reading of shelves, processing new books filing newspagfers and niagazines. and repair and mending of worn books, and use of the card catalog, This xvholesoine experience requires students who are sufficiently interest- ed to be dependable, reliable, and trustvvorthy while meeting and serving school classmates. Another division of the club consists of Library Helpers. These are stu- dents of the seventh grade who are given an opportunity to develop basic library skills connected with Library Science classes. The football season this year closed without our team having won a game. At first glance this might indicate an unsuccessful season. However, looking over the teamwork displayed and the enthusiasm shown near the end of the season, the future for football in our school looks much brighter. Highlighting the season were the passing offense and the lon turns. Three seniors finished their high school football careers. They were Boyer. There were a large number of boys reporting for this fall sport and a good foundation was started for future varsity teams. 450- Soccer This year, under the direction and supervision of Mr. Candrick and Mr. Boyer, an intramural soccer league was instituted at our school. The origin of this league can be traced to the physical education classes taught by Mr. Boyer and Mr. Candrick, where instruction in the rudiments of the game of soccer was administered during the fall months. So much interest and zest was displayed by the boys for the game of soccer that it was decided to organize a league and give them an opportunity for further participation. The league was comprised of four teams from the upper three grades. Yarger's Roughnecksu, a team comprised mainly of junior agricultural students, won the league championship by downing Fishers Raiders five goals to two. -8l- WC Varsity Wrestling . , . First Row - D. Mifflinburg High School entered three teams in basketball league competi- tion this year. The varsity group was coached by Mr. Spencer Boyer. It was a good team but met with hard luck. The team was inexperienced at the beginning of the season but improved greatly in the second half of league play. The win- loss record was no indication of the type of ball which our varsity boys played The junior varsity team was under the direction of Mr. Thomas Candrick and was composed of members of the sophomore and junior classes. The team engaged in many interesting games although they were not too successful in the won-lost column. A junior high basketball club was organized this year under the direction of our principal, Mr. Earl Young. The team constantly displayed good team work. and a good foundation was begun for our future varsity teams.
