Donald 'See All Davidson and Joseph Hear All. Tell All Morgan. The sequence of visions into the future went thus: ..... The scene opened foggily as we footed along through the milling crowd ..... As we looked to the right we saw Joyce Bally exhibiting her home made fudge at a large stand. while on the other side Katherine Boley was giving out free dinner tickets to the grand opening of Katie B's Stop 3 ..... A little farther on we saw Bob Clay demonstrating the '64' Ford for brother Bill's Ford Emporium. . . . .Don Davidson was in close competition, with his '64' Dodge which he was demonstrating for his own concern ..... At the next booth we saw an exhibition of trained ducks run by Nancy Cumbow. .... A little farther on we saw Joe Morgan selling insurance to a flock of odd women ..... Beverly Murray was there in person to advertise Bev's Drive lnn and Three Minute-Laundry Service. the biggest cleaning establishment in Central Arabia. .... A little farther on we saw Pat Holzapfel now a Lutheran missionary autographlng her book. A South Korean Speaks His Mind or 'lf the Commies Aren't Near' ..... We see that Carolyn Os- born and Marcella Snoke are world renowned designers of Bikini Bathing Suits. two-piece thatis ..... Neta Scranton now owns and operates her own skating rink: known as Scranton's Skater's Haven' ..... Oh! The mystic thoughts of vision are coming in faster and thicker with each fleeting moment. Neal Shull is operating his own gas station known as Shull's Shell Service' ..... Pat Sowers. we hear has taken over her dad's job and is now driving a Mifflin school bus ..... We didn't see much ofjack Lewis and Jim Hart as they were busy giving a lecture on sportsmanship at a football clinic ..,.. We saw Barbara Hickman farther on giving out free travel folders at a TWA exhibit ..... At the nextbooth we saw Mary Hughes. Betty and Peggy Whetnall warming up their South Amer- ican dance act, which. incidentally. we stayed-to see. It was very interesting: at one point they actually sawed cocoanuts in two with their finger nails ..... Bertha Hull has been giv- ing some very good pointers to her class of young girls with aspirations of becoming hula dancers, really things are beginning to swing ..... Next we saw Margie Largen lor at least that was her maiden namel helping her husband exhibit his wares: he makes squirrel rifles in Kentucky ..... At the next booth we saw Bob Leffler and Jim Ellcessor. the two clown princes of basketball giving humorous exhibitions of their wlzardry with the little leather sphere ..... Theyhad a good barker in the form of Milton Robinson. . L . .Rutl1 Steven's oc- cupation's are coming in sorta foggy and mixed up. just too numerous to mention ..... Paul Stuart is in full production of his little brainstorm 'The Fordsly' which isaCrosley body with ahopped Fotdf60Jengine. this engine puts out a horse power rating of 00s. tAmenJ . . . . .The winds tell us that Linda Diltz is head doo-dad purchasing agent for Kresge 's five and ten ..... Donna's Dandy Kitchen' or 'How to Cook for Jack' ..... The preceding, and proceeding confusing as it may seem has and is subject matter of the mixed up brains ofMorgan. Davidson and Co ..... Francis Nutt is in business for himself now a days. he runs his own slaughter house: he butchers only Black Angus cattle and the name of his company is Francls's Fancy Meat's. lnc. . .,.. Robert Armstrong is making millions today in the cowboy motion picture business under the name of 'Bubble Gun Bob' ..... Barbara Holland and Barbara Hoyt have gone into the stock car racing world: Hoyt makes them run and Hol- land runs them ..... Ever hear of Lucky Strikes? The football team is raring to go Cause what they've been practicing they're ready to show We had an assembly that gave us a scare With Mr. Smith and his liquid air. Well, that's about all to tell at a glance But wait 'till next month and you'l1 hear about the big dance. OCTOBER Our grades came out, as you probably know Some kids were happy, and some said, 'Oh Noi' The queen was crowned and the court was too Boy! That was a happy evening, I'm telling you. The Senior paper drive got under way And we had a gay ole' time all that day. Our boys need a scoreboard to mark up their points So we had a skating party and broke half our joints. All our football players' faces gleamed bright. As they walked arm and arm with their mothers on mother's night. The Freshman initiation went off like a jet. Thats one dance l'm sure they'll never forget. NOVEMBER O. K. kids light up your flares We just had a banquet for the football players. To follow the school fad we had a football night in honor of the dads. The Senior Harvest Hop came into a swing With lots of fun, and even a queen! We had a Thanksgiving assembly you know. Led by our very own 'Brother Joe. DECEMBER Whats all the whispering about? The Freshman's dance no doubt. And whats this we hear about a skating party? Boyl Those Freshman sure are hardy. Black Arrow was the name of the movie After we saw it, we thought it was real groovie. A Junior assembly you say? Gee no lessons! Saved for the day. At the Christmas program, hearts were gay No one will forget that wonderful day. JANUARY A skating party was sponsored by the Tri-l-li-Y All the kids went to give it a try. The Junior's had fun at the dance they put on And everyone who went was glad they had gone. 36 FEBRUARY Give your favorite sweetheart a call So you can bring her to the Valentine Ball. The Sophomore's were really congratulated For at that dance everyone was belated. Now, its the G. A. A.'s turn to sponsor a skate Everyone went and brought a date. The movie was good this month too. Everyone liked it, now didn't you? MARCH Whats all this talk we hear? The Senior square dance must be here. And on top of that the Iunior paper drive was at its peak. Yes-sir-ee, it was the talk of the week Hey kidsl What do you think? The l-Ii-Y sponsored a skating party at Smith's rink. Thats all the news for this month's session But wait 'til next month, thats when we'll have you guessin'. APRIL Schools out! Yea! Don't you believe it, 'cause it's only April fools day. The banner went up for the Junior play. It sure was good, I'm glad to say This month the skating party was for the Sophomore's. We really did have fun. fEven though some did mop up the floors.j MAY This is the happy month for the Senior's one and You know they won't be back with us next fall. The Junior-Senior banquet is the top of the news Especially for the Senior's, whom we hate to lose, The teachers weren't able to have their say. Because this month we had Senior day. Another memorable day we shall never forget Is May 23, which was baccalaureate. The Spring Formal was a dance to remember Especially for the girls who were dressed in their splendor. The Senior picnic sure went off neat Remember that food? Boy! did we ever eat! Commencement on the 25th was the end of our t Thats one day we'll not forget for quite awhile. FOOTBALL The Mifflin Cowpunchers opened up their season looking very impressive against Reynoldsburg in the preview losing out 7 to O with three seconds to go. Then came Upper Sandusky, a very out-class Mifflin eleven fought hard butthey were just too much for them. Mifflin's team really didn't get started again until the New Albany game which they tied 7 to 7. The best game of the year for the Mifflin Squad was the Dublin game. Mifflin led till the third quarter 13 to 12, then in the final quarter the hard fighting Cowpunchers lost out on a bad call by the referee and an intercepted pass. The small Mifflin team played as hard as they knew how the whole season, but the lack of depth in positions went against them. Mifflin losing only four seniors should comeback strong in 1954. Mifflin placed two players on the Al1 County football team. They were Co- Captain, Jack Lewis, All County defensive guard and Jim Hart, All County defensive tackle. 50 N.-. gs M5?Kp,Qk 'SQ21.'l ZER. f' QSXQA Axiiwmsf' I - J ffl f 'fn Q v 'Nm M.v.,.M,.....,.... BASKETBALL l953- I 954 The Mifflin Cowpunchers opened their basketball season at Commercial Point losing out 49 to 46. Then came the first County League game with Gahanna, they fought very hard but dropped the decision to Gahanna by a 49 to 47 score. Then fooling everyone they knocked off Canal Winchester inareal thriller beating them 65 to 64. Mifflin won their next two games by a good margin. Then came the turn- ing point, Reynoldsburg knocked Mifflin out of the top by a 66 to 53 defeat. The rest of the way the team losta few and won a few. Capt. Bob Leffler and Jim Ell- cessor are the only two seniors on the Mifflin squad. The team having a lot of lettermen returning and also a lot of talent from the reserve team should give all the County League teams trouble, in their season of 1954-1955. 52 RESERVE BASKETBALL TEAM FIRST ROW: M. Lannon. D. Kessler. D. Fisher, T. Musgrave. S. Thomas. G. Lamotra, B. Hedges. J. Schelppi, P. Theu- bald. SECOND ROW: T. Benadum. Reserve Coach. J. Dodrill. T. Edgar, P. Brandsrool. J. Brodt. G. White. D. Galla- way. B. Hearherly. RESERVE BASKETBALL I953- I954 The reserve team was one of the top contenders for top honors in the reserve league. Winning most of their games by one or two points. These boys will give varsity Coach Sam Barrett a lot of talent to work with in the next two seasons. The reserve team used the platoon system having enough talent to make up two good teams. This was used very effective by reserve Coach Ted Benadum. These tall and fast boys should help to improve the varsity very much. They were able to capture the reserve title bynosing outa fine Dublin reserve team by one game. 53 BASEBALL PLAYERS FIRST ROW: A.Watson. SECOND ROW: B. Clay. I. Lewis, L. King. THIRD ROW: T. Musgrave, L. Frazier, B. Wilson, D. McCaughey. B. Headges. R. Backer. FOURTH ROW: D. Harmon. B. Barteleson, J. Wolfel, P Hosington. BASEBALL With the doing away with the county baseball league Mifflin's baseball squad had to play teams from other leagues, but only playing county league teams in the tournaments. The Mifflin team played about nine games ending the season by playing Groveport and Canal Winchester, in the tournaments, coming up on the short end of both games. The baseball team played this schedule with about three practices. Consequently, they made all their errors in the games where they normally should have been making them in practice. The lack of practice was due to bad weather. 54 ' USING D PATRONS and Mrs. Eddie Susie Mr. and Mrs. Byron Armstrong and Nts. George Miller Galianna Drive-in Dry Cleaners and Mrs. Ted Benadum Mr. E.
