Whether it be in scholarship, college admissions, academic attainment or school life, this class has been a true pace setter, a model for future classes to emulate. When I think back over the accomplishments of the class of 1976, my thoughts gravitate to your championship SING of December, 1974, when you were juniors, an unheard of thing to be sure! What impressed me most about Sing, 1975 was the story line. It dealt with human understanding and the ultimate need for cooperation. It was this cooperation that helped steer a foundering ship through a deep storm. Now in your graduating year, a real storm is upon us. Economic thunderheads menace our passage while New York City pitches wildly in the gales of fiscal crisis. The financial distress of our City has found its way into Midwood and every other school this year. The way has been difficult indeed, but we have made it to port, to your graduation! They say our City is dying, that its future is bleak, but I do not agree. I can clearly see the class of 1976 and other graduating classes throughout the City like it, bringing needed skills and professions to our town in the future years. I can see young men and women, such as you, breathing new life into this, the greatest metropolis the world has ever seen. You have a great challenge before you, we are counting on you. There is no road to follow but that which leads to light, brilliance, and to a renaissance of greatness for this City that has nurtured you. Your graduation then is the beginning. Let us now get on with the job! Sincerely, X 1 , ,,,,, L ... Principal I I i S Administration . . The purpose of the Model Congress is for high school students to understand the inner workings of the American government. All delegates were assigned to a committee - either in the Senate or the House of Representatives. This year the delagates were divided into 8 house committees, 6 Senate committees, and 1 joint committee. Each delagate was responsible for legislation pertaining the jurisdic- tion of its particular committee. They learned that a team wins with performance and not with ability and potential, and you cannot achieve greatness without enthusiasm. We were to a degree an emotional hard hitting team. We won four of our nine games, and lost five. Four of the five losses were lost by a total of 19 pts., less than a touchdown a game. We came close, but yet far away. Despite this our players did not lose faith, and gave us tremendous effort. By this effort many honors came to our team by way as having five all division players, two honorable mention all-city selections, and three candidates for the Prep All American Team. We think of 1975 as a great step forward! Frobish Team Ski Club N. 2 4 'i5n,,s4 , 'ffl , Ji, 532 -- Tj. In the semi-finals we lost 1-0 to New Utrect H.S. in an incredibly hard fought game, and for the second year in a row we came in third in the city. One of the main reasons we were so successful was the great goal tending of Capt. Delroy Allen, who had six shutouts during the season. Capt. Michael Simmons provided a great defense along with Eric Jerome. The offense that outscored its opponets 32-7 were led by Capt. Levent Gadime, Jean Duval and Basil Oleighton. Friendship and mutual respect is the part of being a Twirler that won't be left behind. We won Senior Sing and we can now graduate with a special feeling of accomplishment. We created a dream. factory, made our own dreams and watched them come- true. lt wasn't the first time we did it. Remeber our trusty Slip's,hod Shi Off Sheepshead Bay that sailed us on to junior and i-nterschool -v'i'ctori'es?' And of course, we cannot forget our Sophomore -Sing: that valiant attempt to compare the streets of New York City to a Monopoly game., ln the three Sings, we combined all of our Lideas, imagination, re- sources, wits, psychoneurotic tendicies, obsessions, f'eti1shes,and hang: ups to create to the best of our ability a winning show. We wrote scripts, made costumes, sang, danced, built sets, ate Big' Macs, painted, played music, laughed, cried and hollered for three months and then attempted to relate all of this insaneactivity to an audience. They loved it. But it wasn't the glitter or the movement or the story thatthey lovrezd, it was the spirit. The driving force that compelled ,all of us to go out there and do it together. The spirit that grew out of four need to create, our love for each other, and some good old American competition dlifd it all. The glitter will fall off your costume, 'the make-up will wash off and you'll probably forget the lyrics. You will move-on to bigger things,'but that crazy spirit will always be there.
