Oh dear! l shall be foo lafe, cried fhe freshman as she hurried fhrough fhe porfals fo fhe audiforium for her firsf Sing meefing. She was back a few minufes lafer minus a shoe, handkerchief, lwhich had been pinned fo her blousel and hair-ribbon. The senior had misfakenly direcfed her fo fhe Girls' Gym, where she was caughf up in a sfampede of girls in blue gym suifs, racing from The locker room. She limped off, in fhe correcf direcfion fhis fime. Buf fhis was only fhe beginning. She was soon fo be caughf up in a forrid Jungle rhyfhm, for fhis was Sepfember l95l, and fhis was a poor freshman who has since become an esfeemed member of fhe Senior Class of '55, We sounded off abouf fhe faculfy and upper fermers as freshies, buf losf Sing fo some mysferious iuniors. The nexf year, as older, more experienced sophs, we cavorfed fhrough foyland and likened fhe feachers fo sfuffed animals. Again we were unsuccessful, buf sfill hopeful. As slick slickered weafhermen, we came fo fhe aid of Midwood in her baffle wifh afmospheric condifions. Alfhough we were greaf, fhe elemenf of success was lacking. However, for fhe sake of saving face, fhey broughf us up fo second place. Wifh fhree years of experience behind us, we had confidence in ourselves and our leaders. This was fo be fhe year of our besf Sing, and, in preparafion, Midwood facfory was esfablished. Wifh enioymenf sef as fhe minimum wages for fhe laborers fhere, we all gof a maximum of enferfainmenf and fhrills from fhis, our lasf Sing. Our safire on Big Business culminafed in a walkouf. Soon we would reach fhe refiring age for fhe Midwood facfory.
